Incident Summary – Friday 12th June 2026
Time: 17:02 Location: Barlby, Selby
Selby responded to reports of smoke in the area. After inspection, the crew could not locate any signs of fire but that dust from the area could had been mistaken as smoke.
Time: 17:24 Location: A19, Near Riccall
Selby responded to a young person accidentally locked inside a vehicle. Crews used small tools and equipment to unlock the door safely so that they could be left in the hands of their mother.
Time: 17:32 Location: Wheatfield Lane, Haxby
A crew responded to a small bin fire which was out on their arrival. Crews used a bucket of water to dampen down the bin. The cause of this fire was believed deliberate.
Time: 20:51 Location: Boroughbridge Road, Acomb
Acomb responded to a small fire in the open. Crews extinguished the fire using a spade and knapsack sprayers.
Time: 02:27 Location: Newton on-Ouse
Acomb assisted ambulance with gaining entry to a property so that they could assist the occupant who had collapsed inside their property. Crews gained entry using hand tools to open a window and then they helped paramedics with moving the casualty to the awaiting road ambulance outside.
Time: 03:44 Location: North Street, Ripon
Ripon and Harrogate responded to a fuse box inside a residential flat that had started to smoke. Crews arrived and isolated the supply of electricity. An engineer from Northern Power was requested to investigate further. After inspection, crews found charring to the outer casing of the electricity fuse box only. Crews fitted smoke alarms inside property and naturally ventilated the bedrooms.
Crews from Harrogate (x3), York, Malton and Acomb also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
