Incident Summary – Wednesday 29th April – Night Shift

Time: 17:42  Location: Huby

Harrogate responded to a sprinkler system inside a terraced property that had switched on and would not turn off. Thankfully the neighbour had isolated the system prior to fire crews arrival. The property sustained superficial water damage only and advice was given to the homeowner.

Time: 17:59  Location: Garnet Terrace, York

A crew from Acomb responded to a fire sighted in the open. This was a small fire consisting of pallets and crews extinguished using a knapsack sprayer and hand tools. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 18:18  Location: Leven Gardens, Tockwith

Crews from York and Acomb alongside two appliances from West Yorkshire fire and rescue service attended a residential property fire. Six firefighters in Breathing Apparatus entered the property to extinguish the fire with three hose reel jets. The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire investigation officers.

Time: 18:26  Location: Benningbrough

A crew from Easingwold responded to a fire sighted in the open. This was found to be a controlled burn of a pile of wooden logs that was still burning. Crews used a triple extension ladder and saw to remove surrounding branches, the fire was deemed as safe and left to burn out naturally.

Time: 19:11  Location: Richmondshire Way, Catterick Garrison

A crew from Richmond attended smoke coming from a commercial unit. This was found to be from a piece of machinery that was left running, the electrics were isolated and the incident was left with a responsible person.

Time: 20:13  Location: Keighley

A crew from Skipton assisted West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service with an incident in their area. Crews extinguished a fire measuring 3 x3 metres ignited deliberately after it had been fly tipped in a field.

Time: 20:19  Location: Wilberforce Avenue, York

A crew from Acomb responded to a report of a fire in a garden. On arrival this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. No fire service action was required.

Time: 20:24  Location: New Earswick, York

Huntington responded to reports of a fire along a public footpath. This was a tree that had previously been on fire and no further action was required.

Time: 20:36  Location: The Chimes, Selby

Both crews from Selby responded to smoke potentially coming from a residential property. On arrival this was found to be a controlled burn contained in a garden, crews extinguished the fire and gave advice to the homeowner.

Time: 04:58  Location: Chapel Garth, Dalton

Crews from Thirsk and Ripon responded to a shed fire which had spread to a fence and neighbouring shed. Crews extinguished using two breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets.

Crews from Ripon, Scarborough, Skipton and Selby attended fire alarm activations. On arrival, after investigation these were all confirmed as false alarms.
