Incident Summary – Monday 25th May 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 17.14 Location: Kirkham Abbey, York
A crew from York and the animal rescue crew from Malton attended a report of a bull that had become stuck in the silt in a river. Crews used water rescue equipment to assess the river and locate the best egress for the bull before using strops, a winch and crew power to lift the bull out of the water. The bull was left in the hands of the farmer and appeared to be unharmed.
Time: 17.15 Location: Kirk Road, Romanby
A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of a vehicle leaking fuel onto a highway. Crews used small tools to attempt to stop the leak and drizzit pads to soak up the fuel.
Time: 18.00 Location: Steeton, West Yorkshire
Crews from Skipton and Grassington responded to a report of a fire to a residential property over the border in West Yorkshire FRS area. Crews attended the scene and stood by ready to assist but were not required.
Time: 23.24 Location: A64
Tadcaster crew responded to reports of a fire sighted from the A64. On arrival this was a false alarm.
Time: 23.36 Location: Green Hammerton
Acomb crews responded to reports of a fire seen, on arrival this was a false alarm due to control burning under supervision. Advice was given.
Time: 00.36 Location: Water Skellgate, Ripon
Two Crews from Ripon responded to a report of a fire on a hob of a residential premises. Fire was believed out on crew arrival, however the property was heavily smoke logged. Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to ensure fire was extinguished and dampen the surrounding area, then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to remove smoke from the property.

A crew from Skipton responded to a report of a fire on some wasteland. On arrival of the crews the fire measured approx 1m x 1m. Crews extinguished using 1 hose reel jet and dampened down the area.

Selby crews responded to assist paramedics safely move a casualty from a property into an ambulance. Crews used ambulance equipment and crew power to assist.
Time: 02.14 Location: Skipton
A crew from Skipton responded to a report of flooding inside a residential premises. Crews isolated the water supply and gave advice to the occupant.
Crews from Acomb, York (x2) and Ripon (x2) responded to automatic fire alarm activations, after investigation these were found to be false alarms. Advice was given to the responsible person.
