Incident Summary – Sunday 24th May 2026 – Night Shift

Time: 17:34 Location: Woodfield Road, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to reports of a person who had fallen within their property, with the reporting person being unable to gain access to the property. Crews used small tools to gain access through a window, before the person was taken to hospital via road ambulance.

Time: 18:25 Location: Back Horse Lane, York

A crew from York gained entry to a room in a hotel where the locking mechanism had failed, and medication was required from within. Crews used small tools.

Time: 18:49 Location: Sutton Bank

A crew from Northallerton responded to reports of a group of youths with a BBQ on Sutton Bank. This was out on arrival.

Time: 18:53 Location: Back Gate, Ingleton

A crew from Bentham responded to reports of a fire in the garden of a residential property. This was a false alarm with good intent, confirmed to be a controlled burn under supervision.

Time: 19:12 Location: Station Road, Grassington

A crew from Grassington responded to reports of a BBQ on fire on a pavement. This was a fire to a BBQ which had been put in a cardboard box in the boot of a car. On discovery, the occupants had removed the box and BBQ to the open air. The car was not impacted by the fire. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish.

A crew from Grassington responded to a report of a BBQ within woodland. This was damped down using 2 knapsack sprayers.

Time: 21:35 Location: Cowling

Crews from Skipton, Harrogate and an appliance from West Yorkshire fire and rescue service responded to multiple reports of a moor fire. This was found to be a fire to moorland measuring approximately 5m x 4m and was extinguished using beaters and a hose reel jet.

A crew from York responded to reports of a cat which was trapped on a ledge. Crews used a 13.5m ladder to get to the fourth floor and reunite the cat with its owner.

Time: 22:16 Location: Turker Lane, Northallerton

A crew from Northallerton responded to reports of a small fire in the open, which was out on arrival. The cause was believed to be deliberate. Crews used a knapsack sprayer to dampen down.

Time: 22:44 Location:Tower Street, York

A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a small fire by the river.  This was a campfire under supervision.

Time: 23:14 Location: York Road, Deighton

A crew from York responded to reports of a fire in the open. This was a controlled burn under supervision. The occupier extinguished the fire as a precaution.

Time: 00:10 Location: Jubilee Road, Norton

A crew from Malton responded to reports of a fire in the open. This was a controlled burn under supervision.

Time: 00:48 Location: Barrowcliff Road, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough gained entry to a property on behalf of the police.

Time: 01:39 Location: A19 S South Kilvington to Thirsk

Crews from Thirsk, Northallerton and Easingwold responded to reports of a vehicle that was smoking. This was a false alarm, with good intent, where a vehicle had run out of coolant and overheated. Crews assisted highways to remove vehicle from the carriageway.

Time: 03:34  Location: Selby

A crew from Selby responded to a request for assistance from the Ambulance service with a difficult extrication. Crew power was used to extricate the casualty from a residential property to a road ambulance.

 

Crews from Harrogate (x2), Knaresborough, Skipton, York, Scarborough and Acomb attended fire alarm activations. On arrival after investigation these were all confirmed as false alarms.
