Incident Summary – Wednesday 12th August – Night Shift
Time: 17:03 Location: Allerston
Crews from Scarborough and Sherburn responded to a fire in a field that was in the process of being harvested. The fire measured approximately 50m x 50m and was out on arrival of the crew. Crews used three hose reel jets to dampen down the area.
Time: 18:05 Location: Wensley
A crew from Hawes responded to assist a person who had become stuck on a stair lift due to it mechanically failing. Crew used crew power and a drag sheet to move the person to a safe location inside their property. The person was left in the care of family members.
Time: 18:10 Location: Yafforth Road, Northallerton
A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of smoke sighted in a field. This was found to be a bonfire measuring approximately 4m x 4m. Due to weather conditions crews extinguished using a light portable pump and main jet. Advice was given.
Time: 18:12 Location: Eastfield, Scarborough
A crew responded to a report of smoke sighted. On arrival, after investigation of the area, this was believed to be a false alarm with good intent due to dust caused by a vehicle travelling along a farm track.

Crews from Selby, alongside Pontefract and Garforth from West Yorkshire, responded to a field fire measuring approximately 75m x 75m. Crews extinguished the fire using three hose reel jets and beaters.

A crew from York responded to a report of a fire next to the river. On arrival this was confirmed to be a controlled burn under supervision with adequate amounts of extinguishing media present.

A crew from Thirsk responded to reports of a fire to a tree stump and a tyre. Crews used 2 buckets of water to extinguish the fire.

A crew from Whitby responded to reports of a campfire measuring 01m x 01m. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish.
Time: 21:14 Location: Quaker Close, Reeth
Crews from Reeth and Richmond responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding in a residential premises. This was a false alarm caused by a fault in the detector head.

A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a person stuck in a lift. This was a false alarm, no persons were stuck in the lift.
Time: 21:27 Location: Hornbeam Park Avenue, Harrogate
Two crews from Harrogate responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding in a commercial premises. This was found to be a false alarm due to an overheating appliance. The appliance was isolated and advice was given.

A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a fire in the open. This was found to be a fire consisting of a push bike and petrol can and was out on crews arrival. Cause believed deliberate.

A crew from Bedale responded to a report of a fire in the open. On arrival this was found to be a BBQ which had already been extinguished. Crews gave advice.

A crew from Acomb responded to a request from the Police to gain entry to a property on behalf of the Ambulance service. Small tools were used to gain entry and the incident was left in the hands of ambulance crews.

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire in the rear garden of a property. This was found to be a controlled burn measuring approximately 1m x 1m. Due to the close proximity to some trees crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet. Advice was given.

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a report sparks from a fuse board and a smell of burning inside a residential property. On arrival there was no sign of fire, crews carried out a full thermal scan with no issues found. Advice was given to the occupant.
Time: 03:27 Location: Valley Road, Harrogate
A crew from Harrogate responded to a request from the Police to gain entry to a residential property on behalf of the Ambulance service. Crews gained entry via a ground floor window and the casualty was left in the care of paramedics.
