Incident Summary – Friday 29th May 2026
Time: 07:00 Location: The Backies, York
Acomb responded to a fire consisting of rubble extinguished by the crews using knapsack sprayers. The cause of the fire was believed deliberate.
Time: 11:11 Location: Sandy Bank, Northallerton
A crew from Northallerton assisted a RSPCA officer with the removal of a trapped bird in a tree. Crew lowered the bird safely with a reach pole and the animal was left in the hands of the RSPCA officer.
Time: 12:21 Location: Castle Road, Scarborough
Both Scarborough crews responded to a previously used pan left on top of a hob that had turned on due a malfunction, causing smoke inside the flat with no occupants present. Crews gained entry to the property to isolate the hob and remove the pan. No fire was inside, only slight smoke logging which was ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan. Advice was given to the occupant after they returned home regarding home fire safety.

Skipton responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision with reports it had been leaking fuel onto the road. Crews carried out a full inspection and no leak was found. The person in the vehicle was also out on arrival and crews provided scene safety.
Time: 15:04 Location: High Skellgate, Ripon
Ripon responded to some external wooden cladding on a property which had began to smoke. Crews used a endoscope camera to check there was no fire spread to the inside of the property. Crews dampened down the hotspots used a hose reel jet and small tools.
Time: 15:09 Location: Grinton, Reeth
Reeth responded to reports of fire seen from a road. This was controlled burning under supervision and advice was given.
Time: 16:18 Location: Sherburn in Elmet
Tadcaster responded to fire sighted in a woodland measuring 5 x 3 metres extinguished using knapsack sprayers.
Crews from Harrogate and Northallerton also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were confirmed as false alarms.
