Incident Summary – Thursday 2nd July – Night Shift
Time: 17:05 Location: Aysgarth
Leyburn alongside Mountain Rescue mobilised to two people who became stuck at the bottom of some waterfalls. After they were located by fire crews, mountain rescue teams were able to access the two people and lead them to safety. Both people were left in a place of safety and no further fire service action was required.
Time: 17:10 Location: Fulford, York
York responded to an unattended campfire. The fire was out on arrival and crews dampened down with a bucket of water.
Time: 17:12 Location: Monk Fryston
A crew from Selby attended a two vehicle road traffic collision. All persons were out on arrival and crews made the scene safe. The incident was left with the Police to arrange recovery of the vehicles.
Time: 17:49 Location: Aislaby, Whitby
A crew from Whitby responded to a request from the Police to assist in clearing oil from the roadway following a road traffic collision. Crews used drizzit pads and a hose reel jet to clear the roadway and the incident was left in the hands of the Police.
Time: 18:14 Location: Hull Road, York
A crew from York responded to a person who had accidentally become locked inside a bathroom due to a faulty door handle. Small tools and a recip saw were used to release the person who was safe and well.
Time: 18:40 Location: Ripon
A crew from Ripon responded to two young people who had accidentally become locked inside a property. Crews used a triple extension ladder to access the property via a window allowing them to open the door of the property and release the young people who were safe and well and reunited with their guardian.
Time: 19:19 Location: Staithes
A crew from Lythe attended a fire inside a residential property. The fire was out on arrival of the crew who removed the items that had been involved in the fire from the property and dampened them down.
Time: 19:21 Location: Plumer Avenue, York
A crew from York responded to a report of smoke coming from the garden of a residential property. On arrival this was confirmed to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given.
Time: 19:29 Location: Old Great North Road, Brotherton
A crew from Selby, alongside an appliance from West Yorkshire fire and rescue service, responded to a fire sighted in the open. This was found to be a fire consisting of household waste and crews extinguished using a hose reel jet.
Time: 21:06 Location: Iris Close, Burniston
A crew from Scarborough responded to a young cat which had become trapped underneath a garden shed. Crews used spreaders to move the shed, release the cat and reunite them with their owner.
Time: 22:20 Location: Bull Lane, York
York mobilised to smoke sighted on the balcony of a residential property. Crews investigated and found the occupant had lit a small pile of papers on their balcony but had extinguished it on their arrival. Crews dampened down the balcony and inspected the area for any fire spread. Advice was given to the occupant.
Time: 23:03 Location: A1(M), Boroughbridge
Knaresborough and Harrogate responded to a concerned road user who stated they could hearing a hissing noise from the battery of their van. On arrival, crews found no signs of smoke or fire and isolated the battery. Advice was given to the road user who has arranged for vehicle recovery.
Time: 00:45 Location: Haxby Road, Huntington
York responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.
