Incident Summary – Sunday 19th July 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 17:14 Location: B6160, Kilnsey
Grassington responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and motorcycle. All persons of car were out on arrival, uninjured. Crews carried out scene safety and made the vehicle safe for police whilst the motorcyclist involved in the incident was taken to hospital via road ambulance. The incident was left in the hands of police.

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of smoke sighted in the open close to a recreation area. After a thorough search, no smoke or fire was found.
Time: 18:18 Location: Copmanthorpe, York
Acomb responded to reports of a person using fire lighting equipment to burn away weeds. Crews arrived and found no fire but gave advice to the responsible person.
Time: 18:19 Location: Station Road, Selby
Selby responded to a bin fire in a park. Crews extinguished the fire with a knapsack sprayer and spade. The cause of the fire is believed deliberate.
Time: 19:05 Location: The Crescent, Selby
Selby were requested by police to gain entry for paramedics who were unable to gain access to a property. Entry was gained and the incident was left with paramedics.
Time: 19:25 Location: Oatlands Drive, Harrogate
Harrogate responded to a portable BBQ on the stray. Crews extinguished using a bucket of water. Advice was given.
Time: 19:27 Location: Ouse Bank, Selby
Two crews from Selby responded to reports of a fire to cabins storing football equipment. This was a small fire of waste that spread to a container measuring 6m by 3m, consisting of sports equipment. Crews extinguished using a hose reel jet. Cause believed deliberate.

Crews from Acomb responded to multiple reports of a burst 21 inch water main in a residential street. The flooding affected the street and 2 premises. Crews pumped out the basement of a public house and blocked water access from an affected property. The incident was left in the hands of City of York Council.

A crew from Ripon responded to reports of a swollen phone battery which had been moved to open air. Crews investigated only and gave advice.
Time: 19:56 Location: Kingsway West, York
A crew from Knaresborough, who were providing cover in the York area, responded to a request from North Yorkshire Police, to dowse a hedge line measuring 26m by 2m, with water, after youths had emptied a petrol can over the hedge line. Police were on scene and crews dowsed the hedge using a hose reel jet.

A crew from Northallerton responded to a request from police to gain entry to a property on behalf of ambulance. Crews used a triple extension ladder to gain access via an open window. The occupant was located safe and well and left in the care of ambulance service.

A crew from York responded to reports of a fire coming from a grate in the road. The fire was out on arrival. Crews used a hose reel jet to dampen down.

Crews from Scarborough, Filey, and an incident support unit responded to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision, where a vehicle had impacted a building. All occupants were out on arrival. Crews made the scene safe.
Time: 00:10 Location: Tockwith Lane, Bilton in Ainsty
A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a fire seen in a field. This was found to be a controlled burn left unattended. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish.

A crew from Filey responded to a request from police to assist a police officer and member of the public to get out from behind a 12 foot wall. Crews used a triple extension ladder to assist the police.
Time: 06:13 Location: Howard Street, York
Crews from York and Acomb responded to a smell of burning rubber and smoke inside a residential property. This was found to be a fire to a charging cable and was out on arrival. Crews isolated the power to the affected socket.
Crews from York (x3), Acomb (x3), Whitby, Skipton, Richmond and Selby attended fire alarm activations inside residential properties. On arrival, after investigation, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
