Incident Summary – Friday 24th July – Night Shift
18:12 – A1 J48 to J49
Crews from Knaresborough, Harrogate and Ripon were mobilised to a fire on the grass embankment of the A1 motorway. Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish and dampen down, a thermal imagining camera was used to check for any hotspots.
18:19 – Peaslands Lane, Thornton Le Dale
Kirkbymoorside’s appliance responded to reports of a deliberate fire in the woods. Crews used two knapsack sprayers to extinguish and a thermal imagining camera was used for hotspotting. The incident was left with police.
20:28 – Charles Street, Selby
Selby’s appliance responded to reports of a bonfire in the garden of a residential property. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet, a thermal imagining camera was also used. Advice was given to the homeowner.
21:13 – Leeman Park, York
Acomb’s pump were mobilised to a deliberate fire that had been set in a wooded area by youths. Crews extinguished the fire using a knapsack sprayer and the incident was passed over to police.
21:16 – Thornton Moor Close, York
York’s appliance responded to reports of a disposable BBQ being lit on dry grass. Crews extinguished the fire using water from a nearby pond, advice was given to the responsible people.
21:29 – Sand Hutton
Acomb’s second appliance were mobilised to a large bonfire in the garden of a residential property that appeared to be out of control. After a full inspection, this was found to be a controlled burn.
21:44 – St Nicholas Cliff, Scarborough
Scarborough’s pump were mobilised to assist with a lift rescue of multiple people. Crews used lift keys to release them unharmed,
21:59 – Whitby Road, Pickering
Kirkbymoorside’s crew responded to reports of a bonfire that looked to be out of control, this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision.
22:21 – Cleveland Way, Scarborough
Scarborough’s TRV crew were mobilised to a small fire in the open. On the arrival of crews, this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision with no chance of spreading, advice was given to those in attendance.
22:26 – Queens Parade, Scarborough
Scarborough’s pump was mobilised to reports of water coming through the ceiling of a property with the electrics being effected. Crews investigated and offered advice to the occupier to contact the landlord.
22:55 – King Edward Road, Ripon
Ripon’s appliance responded to reports of a small fire in the rear garden of a property that was believed to be out of control. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet, advice was given to the occupier.
23:06 – New Earswick, York
York’s crew were mobilised to a bonfire in the garden of a residential property. This was found to be a supervised fire with adequate water supply, advice was given to the occupier.
23:25 – Skipton Road, Farnhill
Crews from Ripon, Skipton and Keighley (West Yorks) were requested by police to assist with a three vehicle road traffic collision. On the arrival of crews police and ambulance were in attendance and treating and assessing the casualties. Crews assisted with making the vehicles safe, the incident was then left with police.
23:26 – Low Street, Brotherton
Tadcaster’s appliance were mobilised to reports of a small fire in a field. Crews used buckets of water to extinguish.
23:29 – Keasden
Crews from Hawes and Hornby (North West) were mobilised to a small fire in the open that was believed to be out of control. On crews arrival, this was found to be controlled burning under supervision.
00:21 – Royal Parade, Harrogate
A crew from Harrogate responded to flooding in the basement of a property due to a burst water main. Crews isolated the main and gave advice to occupiers whilst they awaited the arrival of Yorkshire Water.
05:26 – Scalby, Scarborough
Scarborough’s TRV crew were requested by ambulance to assist with gaining entry to a residential property with a casualty inside. Crews used a door enforcer and small tools to open the door and the incident was left with paramedics.
05:59 – Somerset Close, Richmond
Richmond’s crew were mobilised to assist a person that had fallen within their property. Crews used a triple extension ladder and small tools to gain access to the home. Crew power was then used to lift the person into a place of safety where they were then left with a neighbour awaiting the arrival of ambulance.
Crews from Knaresborough, Scarborough and York responded to fire alarm activations throughout the night. These were all found to be false alarms.
