Incident Summary – 26th July 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 07.52        Location: Hillam

Selby crews responded to reports of a fire sighted in a field. On arrival crews found one fire consisting of rubbish. Crews made contact with the responsible person and gave advice to remain in attendance.

Time: 10.08        Location: Flixton

A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of smoke sighted in a field. On arrival crews found 1 round bale on fire, crews liaised with the responsible person and it was moved to a safe location with no risk of spreading.  It was advised for the responsible person to remain in attendance until it had fully extinguished.

Time: 10.12        Location: Knaresborough

A crew from Harrogate were mobilised to smoke sighted in a woodland area. On arrival crews found a pile of wood chippings measuring approximately 4 x 4 metres. Crews extinguished using 01 hose reel jet.

Time: 11.39        Location: Hazlewood 

Tadcaster crew mobilised to reports of smoke sighted in a field. On arrival this was found to be a controlled burn, but due to the close proximity to cut crop crews extinguished using 01 hose reel jet.

Time: 13.27      Location: Filey 

A crew from Scarborough responded to assist an individual who was locked in a vehicle and the keys were not workings. Crews gained access by breaking the rear window, no injuries were sustained.

Filey crew responded to smoke coming from a signal box. This was found to be a false alarm due to a generator starting up after a power cut.

Time: 13.42        Location: Malton

A crew from Sherburn responded to reports of a fire behind a commercial garage. On arrival crews found a fire measuring approximately 4 x 4 metres. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

Time: 14.09        Location: Cowling

Skipton crew responded to a vehicle fire. On arrival the vehicle was well alight, crews used 01 hose reel jet and 02 breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

Time: 14.36        Location: York

Acomb crew responded to reports of a mobile phone battery smouldering. Action had already been taken prior to fire service arrival to extinguish. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
