Incident Summary – Monday 27th July 2026
Time: 17:28 Location: A1237, Rawcliffe
Huntington responded to reports of a vehicle fire. On arrival, crews found that a overheated headlamp bulb fire was out on there arrival after the owner had used a dry powder extinguisher. There was damage to the wiring loom only. Crews carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera and advice was given.
Time: 17:45 Location: Ravine Road, Filey
Filey responded to a fire on the cliffs measuring 5 x 10 metres. Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire whilst wearing respiratory protection. The cause of this fire was believed deliberate.

Stokely responded to a fire measuring 5 square metres on the moors. Crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and wildfire digging tools. The area was dampened down before leaving the scene.
Time: 20:12 Location: Near to Sutton-under-Whitstonecliffe
Thirsk and Boroughbridge responded to reports of smoke inside a residential property. This was a false alarm, caused by an overheating tumble dryer issuing smoke.

Scarborough responded to a fire in the open, which was out on arrival. The cause was deliberate.

A crew from York responded to reports of a small fire consisting of sticks and leaves. Crews extinguished using knapsack sprayer. The cause was deliberate.
Time: 20:57 Location: Castle Bolton
Hawes responded to a large bonfire measuring 10 x 10 metres. Responsible person was in attendance and assisted fire crews with extinguishing fire using a slurry tanker due to the ongoing climate conditions. Crews used two hose reel jets and gave advice to the responsible person.

Acomb responded to a small campfire left unattended in some woodland. Crews extinguished the fire using buckets of water.
Time: 22:18 Location: Hack Fall, Masham
Bedale responded to three young people who found themselves stuck on steep terrain during a walk and became unable to safely find there route back to the main path due to lack of sunlight. Fire control located where all young persons were advised to await in situ after requesting their location via the What3Words app. Fire control also gave advice for them to only use one phone torch whilst awaiting the arrival of Bedale crew in hopes another persons phone could conserve battery to always maintain contact with them if needed. Bedale crew were able to gain access to the bottom of the steep terrain to make verbal contact with all three youths who reassured them that Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team had been requested and were enroute to assist them back to a safe location using their rope rescue equipment. After Mountain Rescue had performed a rescue, all young persons were walked back to their vehicle. No injuries were sustained during this incident.

Crews form Huntington, York, Thirsk, Scarborough, Filey, Northallerton and Kirkbymoorside responded to activated fire alarms inside residential building. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
