Incident Summary – Tuesday 28th July 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 16.59 Location: A64
Tadcaster and York crew responded to reports of smoke sighted in a field. On arrival fire crews found a fire measuring approximately 10 x10 metres, and a further 03 seats of fire measuring approximately 03 x 03 metres. Crews used a main jet, 45 jet and 02 knapsack sprayers to extinguish and damp down, then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

Grassington crew responded to reports of people having a BBQ in a field. On arrival the BBQ was extinguished and fire crews gave advice to the people present.
Time: 18.34 Location: Scarborough
A crew from Pickering were mobilised to people stuck in a lift carriage. Crews used lift keys to safely release those trapped.
Time: 19.04 Location: Colburn
Richmond crew responded to reports of a fire in a woodland area, on arrival crews found a fire measuring approximately 02 x 02 metres consisting of a tyre and wood. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish. Cause believed to be deliberately set by youths, police attended this incident.

A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a campfire left unattended. Crews located the campfire and extinguished using a bucket of water.
Time: 20.12 Location: Scarborough
Pickering crew responded to reports of a fire in the open. Crews located and extinguished using 02 knapsack sprayers and a bucket of water. Cause believed deliberately set by youths. Police were informed.
Time: 20.46 Location: York
Acomb crew responded to reports of a large fire in a garden of a property. On arrival this was confirmed to be a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision, advice was given to the responsible person present.
Time: 23.26 Location: Scarborough
Scarborough crew assisted paramedics safely extricate a casualty from a property. Crews used crew power to safely move the individual. Crews then left the casualty in the care of the paramedics on scene.
Crews from Pickering, Easingwold, Selby, Harrogate and Leyburn responded to automatic fire alarm activations. After investigation these were found to be false alarms. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
