Incident summary – 13 August, 2026 – Day shift

Time: 08:02  Location:  Burniston Road, Scarborough

Both Scarborough crews responded to a fire within a refuse truck. On arrival crews found the rear refuse hopper smoking. One appliance followed the truck back to its depot where the refuse was emptied and spread out on hard standing and extinguished.

Whitby fire crew responded to a sighting of smoke from a passing motorist. On arrival, no smoke sighted. Following a thorough search and liaising with staff on site, smoke attributed to quarry machinery.

Time: 09:33  Location:  Hemingbrough

Selby fire crew responded to a report of unattended burning in a rear garden. However, on arrival this was found to be an attended controlled burn. False alarm.

Skipton fire crew responded to a report of intermittent smoke coming from chimney. Fire crew removed fuel from wood fuelled stove and gave advice.

Selby fire crew responded to a report of a Porsche Boxster on fire. The car which was well alight was extinguished by foam hose reel. Cause unknown.

Tadcaster fire crew gained entry for paramedics via a window then provided crew power to assist move a casualty to ambulance for transport to hospital.

York fire crew responded to an automatic fire alarm with the cause being an electrical fault.

Northallerton, Ripon, Malton, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside mobilised to a fire involving a combine harvester in a field of standing crops. Three hose reels, back pack sprayers and farmers assistance used to extinguish the fire.

Acomb and York fire crews responded to an automatic fire alarm with the cause being testing of the system.

Knaresborough fire crew extinguished approx 25 metres of hedgerow on an embankment alongside the A1 following approximately x112 999 fire calls..

York fire crew responded to an automatic fire alarm with the cause being a fault on system.

Time: 12:54  Location:  Stokesley Road, Northallerton

Stokesley fire crew responded to a report of a 7Kg Propane gas cylinder venting. Fire crew emptied the cylinder which was venting due to the high temperatures. All other cylinders on site were checked to, with advice given to owner. Thermal camera used.

Selby fire crew responded to a report of a fire in the open which was found to be attended controlled burning. Advice given. False alarm.

Time: 14:22  Location:  Harwood Dale Road, Cloughton

Scarborough fire crew responded to a fire in a field of recently harvested crops. Small fire to stubble. Out on fire arrival. Advice given. Cause – spark after combine struck flint.

Malton, Acomb and Sherburn fire crew responded to a a fire in a stubble field which spread into a treeline of approx 100m. Hose reels and beaters used.

Skipton and Hawes fire crews responded to two fires in a field of approx 10x5m. Hose reels, beaters and thermal camera used.

Time: 15:24  Location:  Manor Court, Knaresborough

Knaresborough fire crew used crew power to assist paramedics in moving an occupant into an ambulance for transport to hospital.
