Incident Summary – Night Shift – 2nd September
17:27 – Navigation Road, York
Both York and Acomb’s crews responded to reports of a car fire. Crews extinguished the fire using three hose reel jets, a breathing apparatus for comfort wear and a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots. The incident was left in the hands of police.
18:22 – West Lane, Dalton On Tees
Richmond’s crew were mobilised to reports of a fire in the open. On crews arrival, this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. Crews gave advice to the responsible person.
21:58 – Beech Road, Harrogate
Harrogate’s first pump were requested by ambulance to assist with gaining entry to a property. Crews used a triple extension ladder to make entry through a window. The incident was left with paramedics.
22:02 – Colne Road, Glusburn
Skipton’s appliance assisted police with gaining entry to a property using a GAME kit. The property was then resecured and the incident was left with police.
23:36 – Appleton Le Street
Both Malton crews responded to reports of a residential property fire. On crews arrival, the fire was out however there was minor smoke logging the ground floor. Crews naturally ventilated the property by opening doors and windows. Advice was given to the occupier.
02:04 – Trafalgar Street West, Scarborough
Scarborough’s TRV were requested to assist police and ambulance with gaining access to a property with a casualty inside. Crews used a 9m ladder to enter through a first floor window and the incident was left with police and ambulance service.
06:16 – Dale Grove, Leyburn
Richmond’s appliance responded to a person locked in the back of a sprinter van. Crews gained entry using a spare key set. The person was released unharmed.
York’s crew were mobilised to two automatic fire alarms during the night, these were both found to be false alarms.
