Incident Summary – Sunday 13th September – Night Shift

Time: 17:46  Location: Sherburn in Elmet

A crew from Tadcaster responded to smoke sighted. On arrival this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given.

Time: 18:04  Location: Wistow

A crew from Selby responded to smoke sighted. On arrival this was found to be controlled burning under supervision.

Time: 18:41  Location: Argyle Road, Whitby

A crew from Whitby responded to a person stuck in a lift. Crews reset the power which allowed the person to be safely released. Advice was given.

Time: 19:15  Location: A168 Dishforth

Crew from Thirsk attended a vehicle fire. This was a fire in the engine compartment and a hose reel jet was used to extinguish.

Time: 19:22  Location: Larpool Lane, Whitby

A crew from Whitby responded to a fire sighted in a field. This was found to be a controlled burn. Crews made contact with the responsible person and advice was given.

Time: 19:59  Location: Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a request from the Ambulance service for assistance with a difficult extrication of a casualty. Crews assisted the person from the property and into a road ambulance for transport to hospital.

Time: 20:19  Location: York

A crew from York responded to assist in lifting a person who had fallen and was uninjured but unable to get back up. Crews were able to lift the person to a safe position and left them in the care of family members.

Time: 22:01  Location: Eggborough, Selby

Selby alongside an assisting appliance from Pontefract attended a bonfire fire which was a controlled burn under supervision. However, crews dampened down the fire using a hose reel jet so that the responsible person could safely extinguish the remainder of the fire once the burn was completed using their on site machinery.

Time: 22:18  Location: Near Leeds Road, Harrogate

Both Harrogate crews responded to the smell of burning inside a residential property. After inspection, there was no smell or signs of smoke or fire inside the property. Advice was given to the occupants.

Time: 00:42  Location: Welham Road, Malton

Malton assisted carers with gaining entry to a bathroom after a patient was unable to open the door on their own accord. Crews gained access to the bathroom using small tools and the patient was left in the care of carers.

Time: 02:07  Location: Renshaw Gardens, York

A crew from Acomb responded to gain entry to a property after a person had fallen within and carers could not gain access due to a key being in the lock on the inside. A method of entry kit was used.

Time: 03:23  Location: Haxby Road, York

A crew from York responded to a report of flooding in a street. Crews diverted water away from some affected properties using lengths of hose and waited until the water had decreased to an acceptable level. Incident was left with Yorkshire Water informed of burst pipe in the area.

 

Crews from Scarborough, Knaresborough, Whitby, Tadcaster and York (x2) responded to fire alarm activations. On arrival, after investigation these were all confirmed as false alarms.
