Incident Summary Night Shift – Friday 18th September
18:16 – Dunkeswick
A crew from Harrogate responded to reports of smoke sighted in the open. This was found to be a supervised burn under control with the landowner in attendance. Crews gave advice to the responsible person.
19:55 – Skipton
A crew from Skipton assisted a person who had become stuck on their stairs after their stairlift had broken. They used crew power to assist with relocating the person within the property and also installed working smoke detectors.
20:09 – Long Street, Easingwold
A crew from Easingwold attended an address where a person had become locked in due to a key snapping in the lock. The crew used small tools to remove the lock and gave advice to the occupant.
20:12 – Woodfield, Harrogate
A crew from Harrogate responded to an automatic fire alarm activation. This was confirmed as a false alarm caused by burnt cooking.
21:47 – Romanby
A crew from Northallerton were requested by Police to gain entry to an address on behalf of Ambulance. Upon arrival it was found that a neighbour had let paramedics in using a spare key.
22:03 – York Road, Thirsk
A crew from Thirsk responded to a report of smoke sighted in the open. This was a small fire measuring 2m x 2m that had been left unattended. Crews extinguished using a hose reel jet.
23:16 – Northallerton
A crew from Northallerton responded to an automatic fire alarm activation in a domestic premises. This was found to be a false alarm caused by insects in the detector head.
23:29 – Tang Hall, York
A crew from York attended an address where a domestic smoke alarm was sounding. This was found to be a false alarm with an unknown cause.
23:34 – Bolton Abbey
Crews from Skipton and Harrogate responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision with the driver trapped in the vehicle. Crews stabilised the vehicle and used edraulic cutting equipment to release the casualty into the care of paramedics.
00:05 – Sherburn in Elmet
Crews from Tadcaster and Selby, with assistance from two appliances from West Yorkshire, responded to an industrial fire. Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, saws, small tools and ladders in order to access and extinguish the fire. This incident is ongoing.
00:32 – Selby
A crew from Selby were requested by Police to assist Ambulance gain entry to an address due to welfare concerns for a person inside. Crews used small tools to access the property and found it empty. They then resecured the premises.
00:49 – Kilburn
A crew from Thirsk responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a large vehicle that had slipped into a ditch. No people were trapped. Crews carried out general scene safety and inspected the vehicle for any fuel leaks. No action required and scene left with Police.
01:51 – Harrogate
Crews from Harrogate, Ripon and Knaresborough responded to a fire in a domestic premises. Crews extinguished the fire using four breathing apparatus and hose reel jets. A thermal imagining camera was used to check for any hotspots and the property was ventilated naturally by crews.
03:21 – Skipton Road, Gargrave
Skipton’s second appliance was mobilised to an automatic fire alarm sounding at a commercial property, this was found to be a false alarm due to a fault on the system.
05:11 – Middleton Tyas
Richmond’s crew responded to a vehicle leaking diesel on a forecourt following filling up with diesel. Crews cordoned off the area using tape and traffic cones. The onsite spill kits were then used to clear the forecourt, the incident was left with a responsible person.
