Incident Summary – 18th September 2026, Friday Dayshift

Time:  08:21  Location: Leeds Road, Harrogate

Both Harrogate appliances responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision. All occupants were out on crews arrival and in the hands of paramedics being treated for minor injuries. Crews removed both vehicles from the road to allow carriageway so that the road could be reopened. The incident was left in the hands of police.

Time: 08:53   Location: Valley Drive, Harrogate

Harrogate mobilised to a child accidentally trapped inside a flat after the door had self locked behind the parent. Crews used hand tools to regain access to the flat and the young person was found safe and well.

Time: 09:52  Location: Piccadilly, York

York removed a roof box from a vehicle that became wedged a car park roof.  A reciprocator saw and hand tools were used and there was no injuries reported at this incident.

Time: 10:49   Location: Otley Road, Harrogate

Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.

Time: 11:09  Location: Monkgate, York

York responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.

Time: 11:15  Location: Osgodby, Scarborough

Scarborough responded to a small fire measuring 5 x 5 metres left unattended. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and hand tools.

Time: 11:41  Location: Skipton Road, Harrogate

Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.

Time: 11:48  Location: Wykeham Forest

Scarborough responded to a fire in the forest measuring 2 x 2 metres found by a forestry researcher in the area. Crews extinguished the fire using knapsack sprayers. The fire is believed to had started deliberately and police were informed.

Time: 11:51  Location: Whitby

Whitby and Lythe assisted Coastguard and Police with reports of a person who had driven into the harbor and was submerged by water inside their vehicle. The vehicle driver was rescued by a passerby prior to fire crews arrival. Crews administered immediate emergency care prior to the arrival of ambulance crews who took over the care of the driver on their arrival. The driver was taken to hospital via road ambulance.

York and Acomb responded to an activated fire alarm. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.

Time: 13:39  Location: Sutton in Craven

Skipton responded to an activated fire alarm. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm. Advice was given to the responsible person in attendance.

Time: 14:52  Location: Sandybed Lane, Scarborough

Scarborough responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection, crews confirmed this as a false alarm and advice was given to the resident.

Time: 14:54   Location: Thornton-le-Street

Northallerton and Thirsk mobilised to a two vehicle road traffic collision with one vehicle on its roof. The occupant of the vehicle on its roof had self extricated with the support of fire crews. All drivers were checked over by paramedics and taken to hospital via road ambulance. Crews made the vehicles safe before it was left in the hands of police.

Harrogate crews released an elderly person who became trapped inside a public toilet. Crews used a door enforcer to gain access to the toilet and the person inside was left in the care of family.
