Incident Summary – Tuesday 10th March – Night Shift
18:27 – A1237 Haxby
Crews from York and Acomb responded to multiple reports of a small vehicle and horse box both well alight. Vehicle occupants and two horses were out on arrival of the fire crews. Crews used 2 hose reel jets and 2 breathing apparatus to extinguish the vehicle fires and dampen down the area. An environment pack was also used to to prevent oil from vehicles entering drains. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature of one of the vehicles. The scene was then left with Police.
18:43 – Meadow Lane, Northallerton
A crew from Northallerton attended a fire in the open. This was a controlled burn under supervision with a source of water nearby.
18:45 – Seamer, Stokesley
Stokesley’s crew responded to a report of a large fire in the open. This was a supervised burn of garden waste.
18:57 – Holgate, York
Tadcaster attended a fire sighted to the rear of a domestic property. This was a supervised burn of garden waste that had been extinguished prior to the arrival of the crew by a resident.
19:42 – Cross Street, Scarborough
Crews from Scarborough attended an address where a smoke detector had activated and it was believed the wiring into it was sparking. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to assess for any heat but found no signs of fire. An electrician from the housing association was requested, and confirmed that the alarm had short circuited due to a build up of condensation. The electrician removed and replaced the alarm. No action from Fire Service.
21:38 – Rowntree Avenue, York
York’s crew attended an address suffering from water leaking into it from a property above. Crews used small tools to isolate the water supply.
22:16 – East Ayton, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough were called to assist with gaining entry to a premises. Upon arrival their services were no longer required and no action was taken.
23:42 – Ryder Close, Upper Poppleton
Crews from Acomb and York responded to an incident involving a shed on fire at a residential property. Crews used two hose reels, one breathing apparatus and lighting in order to extinguish the fire.
03:24 – Eastfield Industrial Estate, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough were requested to assist with gaining entry to a compound on behalf of Ambulance. The crew, alongside paramedics, gained access using a keypad to unlock the gate. Incident was left with paramedics.
Crews from Filey, Selby, Scarborough, Harrogate, York and Whitby (x2) attended automatic fire alarm activations throughout the evening. These were all found to be false alarms.
