Incident Summary – Friday 20th March 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 11.45      Location: Brompton On Swale 

Richmond crew responded to a smoke alarm activation at a property, on arrival there was no sign of fire, the cause is believed to be an electrical fault. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 12.01       Location: Ousegate, Selby 

York responded to reports of a fire in a derelict building, on arrival the fire was out on arrival, but used a hose reel jet to dampen down the area and a thermal imaging camera to check there were no hotspots in the area.

Time: 12.18      Location: East Heslerton 

A number of fire crews are on scene at a garage/body shop, a building measuring 10m x 20m is on fire, crews are working to extinguish the fire, they will remain on scene for some time. Due to the amount smoke in the area, people nearby should keep their doors and windows closed. This incident is ongoing at the time of publishing. 

Time: 14.41       Location: Manse Lane, Knaresborough

Harrogate crew responded to reports of a fire to a tumble dryer, on arrival the fire was out, crews used small tools to disconnect the appliance and remove it from the property. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 15.41       Location: Church Street, Whitby 

Crews from Robin Hoods Bay in the Whitby area responded to flooding in a property, crews isolated the water and gave advice to the responsible person present.

Crews from Harrogate and Skipton responded to fire alarm activations, on arrival after investigation these were found to be false alarms. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
