Incident Summary – 4th April – Night Shift

17:44 – Scholla Lane, Northallerton

Northallerton’s crew were mobilised to an incident involving an unattended fire in the open. Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish.

17:46 – Bond End, Knaresborough

Knaresborough’s appliance was mobilised to an incident involving a tree that was hanging dangerously over a public footpath. Crews taped off the area and the incident was left with the council.

17:47 – Clifford Street, York

A crew from Acomb attended a residential property due to people being trapped in a lift. Crews used a lift key to free them and taped off the lift access to prevent any further problems.

18:05 – Windhill, Whitby

Robin Hood’s Bay alongside Malton’s pump and animal rescue, were mobilised to an incident involving a cow that had appeared to be stuck in barbed wire. On crews arrival, the cow had self rescued. No action was taken.

18:55 – Victoria Avenue, Harrogate

Police requested the assistance of Harrogate’s crew to free a person that had been locked inside a public convenience building. Crews used a door enforcer to free them unharmed.

19:47 – Manor Garth, Eastfield

Both of Scarborough’s appliances attended an incident involving a commercial fire to a stack of wooden pallets and a container. Crews used one hose reel jet, delta lands and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

20:09 – Castlegate, Malton

Malton’s crew attended an incident involving a small fire that had been spotted in the open. This was found to be a false alarm due to it being a controlled burn.

20:15 – Sneaton

Robin Hood’s Bay were mobilised to an incident involving smoke being sighted across a road. This was found to be a false alarm due to dust being carried by the storm.

20:25 – Percys Lane, York

York’s crew attended an incident involving a fire to a waste bin. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish and left the incident with on site security.

21:09 – Studley Royal

Ripon’s crew were mobilised to an incident involving persons locked in a heritage site. Crews liaised with police and were able to make contact with a keyholder. No fire service action was taken.

21:54 – Manfield Cleaby Road, Cleasby

A crew from Richmond, alongside Darlington, were mobilised to an incident involving a historic controlled burn that reignited. Crews used one hose reel jet and farming equipment to extinguish and dampen down the area.

23:14 – Main Street, Ripley

A crew from Harrogate attended an incident involving a vehicle that had tree branches fall onto it as a result of the weather. Crews used a saw to split the branch and remove it before checking the vehicle for any damage. The incident was left with the cars owner.

00:50 – Oakdale Avenue, Harrogate

Harrogate’s pump attended a residential property with a tree on the roof. Crews inspected the property for any damage and gave advice to the property owners.

01:37 – Riccall Lane, Kelfield

Selby’s appliance were requested by police to assist with gaining entry to a property with a person inside. Crews used small tools to gain access and left the incident with police.

01:47 – Danebury Drive, York

Acomb attended an incident following a road traffic collision at the request of traffic police to assist with scene safety. Crews washed down the road way using one hose reel jet and left the incident with the responsible persons.

02:59 – A166, Gate Helmsley

York’s crew were mobilised to an incident involving a telegraph pole that had fallen onto the road with exposed wiring. Crews used crew power to remove the pole and liaised with engineers to isolate and remove the high voltage cable. The incident was left with Northern Power Grid.

Crews from Hawes, Kirkbymoorside, York, Huntington, Scarborough, Whitby and Helmsley attended automatic fire alarm activations throughout the evening. After thorough inspections these were all found to be false alarms.
