Incident Summary – 5th April 2026, Nightshift
Time: 17:11 Location: Near Huntington Road, York
York responded to a small fire in the open measuring 2 x 2 metres which was out on their arrival. The fire had consisted of branches set by youths seen in the area. Crews inspected the area to ensure the fire was fully extinguished before leaving the incident. Police informed.
Time: 17:34 Location: Brackenhill Lane, Chruch Fenton
Tadcaster mobilised to a fire in the open measuring 3 x 3 metres consisting of mixed waste. No responsible person was in attendance. Crews extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.
Time: 17:58 Location: Alcuin Avenue, York
York mobilised to reports of a fire seen in the back garden of a property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a controlled burn. Advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 18:21 Location: Wellington Street, York
Huntington and Acomb’s ariel ladder platform responded to a 5 foot television ariel hanging in a dangerous position from a property after becoming damaged in high winds. Crew power and bolt cutters were used to remove the ariel before the possibility of it falling onto the footpath below.
Time: 18:41 Location: Chain Lane, Knaresborough
Knaresborough responded to reports of smoke seen near a property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 19:11 Location: Near A171 Whitby Bridge, Whitby
Whitby responded to an unattended campfire measuring 1 x 1 metres. Crews dampened down the area with a hose reel jet and extinguished the fire.
Time: 19:49 Location: East Marton
Grassington mobilised to a chimney fire inside a detached property. The fire was confined to the chimney only. Crews extinguished and dampened down the chimney and advice was given to homeowner not to use the fireplace until an inspection was completed by a specialist.
Time: 20:03 Location: Near Haxby Road, Huntington
York mobilised to a small campfire consisting of loose branches. Crews used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish the fire.
Time: 22:40 Location: Valley Road, Scarborough
Scarborough mobilised to a water leak coming from the extractor fan inside a residential flats bathroom. Crews isolated the electrics and gave advice to occupant who will seek advice from and electrician and plumber in daylight hours.
Time: 22:48 Location: Seamer Carr Road, Eastfield
Scarborough mobilised to a small fire in the open seen on CCTV in the area. Crews extinguished the fire measuring 3 by 3 metres and gave advice to the people in attendance.
Crews from Lythe, Knaresborough and Scarborough (x2) also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
