Incident Summary – Wednesday Dayshift, 14th January 2026
Time: 07:16 Location: Aire Street, Glusburn
Skipton mobilised to a fire in the engine bay of a vehicle. Crews wearing breathing apparatus equipment extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. A thermal scan was carried out with a thermal imaging camera before leaving the incident with the driver to arrange recovery. The cause of this is believed to had been electrical fault.

Thirsk responded to reports of a parked vehicle which was leaking diesel yesterday and there was concerns it may have entered a nearby drain. After inspection, fire crews found no sign of spilled diesel in the area and advice was given to the responsible person to contact the council if the smell of diesel returns in the area.
Time: 10:25 Location: Near Ravenscar, Robin Hoods Bay
A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of smoke sighted from Ravenscar. On arrival, crews found this to be seafret mistaken as smoke. This was a false alarm with good intent.
Time: 11:23 Location: Cote Lane, A170
Kirkbymoorside and Thirsk responded to reports of a 2 vehicle road traffic collision with 3 people all out on arrival and in hands of ambulance service. All persons were discharged on scene with very minor injuries and crews liased with police to see if any further assistance was required. Fire crews left the incident in the hands of police who were arranging recovery of both vehicles and no further action was required.

Filey responded to an activated fire alarm inside a single residential building. The occupant did not know the reason as to why the smoke alarm had activated but did confirm no sign of smoke or fire at time of call. Crews inspected the property and determined the cause was due to a fault on the system. Crews carried out a home fire safety visit.

York mobilised to a skip fire consisting of rubbish. The contents sustained 50% fire damage and was extinguished by crews using a hose reel jet. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Time: 14:47 Location: Stakesby Road, Whitby
Whitby responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection, this was caused by dust in the detector.
Time: 15:11 Location: Bagdale, Whitby
Whitby assisted ambulance with the extrication of a patient inside their property to the road ambulance. Crews used crew power and a casualty drag sheet. The patient was transported to hospital via road ambulance.
Time: 16:08 Location: Wigginton Road, York
York responded an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. This was caused by cooking fumes. Advice was given to responsible person.
