Incident Summary – 3rd February 2026 – Night Shift

Time: 17.55   Location: Wetherby Services 

Tadcaster crew as well as a crews from our colleagues at West Yorkshire responded to a vehicle smoking, crews used one hose reel jet to cool the engine compartment and liaised with highways to tow the vehicle to a safe location, crews followed the vehicle to monitor its condition.

Time: 18.01    Location: Primrose Valley Road, Filey

Crews from Filey attended reports of a fire in the open, on crew arrival this was found to be a controlled burn on private property under supervision, crews gave advice to the responsible person present, no further fire action was required.

Time: 23.30    Location: Leeman Park, York

Crew from Acomb responded to a report of a fire in the open in a park.  On arrival of the crews a wheelie bin full of household waste was well alight.  Crews used buckets of water and a knapsack sprayer to extinguish the fire that was believed to have been started deliberately by youths.

Time: 21.17     Location: York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of a smell of burning from a property, crews investigated the premises and found no signs of fire or smoke, crews used a gas detector to check for any gas and nothing was detected, advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 21.39    Location: Norton

Malton crew assisted ambulance gain entry over welfare concerns for an individual, once access was gained crews left the individual in the care of the paramedic.

Time: 22.14    Location: A19

One of our fire officers came across a road traffic collision involving a car and a bus, a crew from Selby responded, all persons were out of the vehicles. Crews ensured both vehicles were safe, no further fire service action required.

Time: 02.16     Location: Forest Lane, Harrogate 

Crews from Harrogate and Knareborough responded to a fire to a waste bin in a property, the fire was out before fire service arrival but crews used buckets of water to dampen down any small hotspots. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time:  05.00   Location: Kings Road, Harrogate

Two Crews from Harrogate responded to a report of a fire to an oven in a retail premises.  The oven had been isolated and the fire was out on arrival of the crews. A full thermal scan was carried out using a thermal imaging camera and advice was given to the occupant.

Crews from York responded to automatic fire alarm activations, after investigations these were found to be false alarms. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
