Incident Summary – Monday 23rd February Night Shift

17:49 – Boroughbridge Road, York

A crew from Acomb attended a small fire in the open. The fire had mostly burnt itself out prior to the crews’ arrival. They used a bucket of water to fully dampen down the area.

19:12 – Seamer Road, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to multiple reports of a car well alight on a driveway. The crew used spreaders to access the engine compartment and then used a hose reel jet and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. The crew continued to use the hose reel jet to cool the vehicle to an ambient temperature, which they monitored with a thermal imaging camera.

21:22 – Tadcaster Road, York

A crew from Acomb were requested by Police to assist them with gaining entry into a premises. The crew provided ladder assistance to allow the Police access to the building via a triple extension ladder.

01:24 – Low Petergate, York

York’s crew were mobilised to an incident involving a public bin on fire. Crews used one hose reel to extinguish. No damage was done to the bin or surrounding areas.

04:37 – Osbaldwick, York

A crew from York assisted with gaining entry to a property where a person had fallen and was unable to get up. They used small tools to access the premises, and crew power to assist the person from the floor and into a chair.

05:22 – Wiggington Road, York

Crews from Acomb and York responded to reports of a small fire within an industrial unit. The fire was out on arrival of crews who removed the burnt product into the open. They proceeded to inspect the site for further fire spread and gave advice to staff.

 

Crews from Harrogate and York (x2) responded to automatic fire alarm activations throughout the course of the evening. These were all confirmed to be false alarms following thorough inspections.
