Incident Summary – Friday 27th February 2026 – Night Shift

Time: 18.34     Location: Farnham, Knaresborough

Knaresborough crews responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision, where the car had ended up on a wall. everybody was out and uninjured on crew arrival, crews used strops and d-shackles, using the fire appliance to remove the vehicle from the wall and leave it in a secure position on the road ready for recovery.

Time: 20.27     Location: Woodlands, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough and Filey responded to a report from a collector station of a smoke alarm sounding in a premises they monitor and they couldn’t get a response from the occupant.  The fire had been extinguished by the occupant on arrival of the crew and it was caused by a microwaveable heat pack that and had caught fire.

Time:  20.45    Location: White Friars Close, Richmond

Crews from Richmond, Leyburn and Reeth responded to reports of a fire in a residential property. Crews used two hose reel jets, one main jet , six breathing apparatuses and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish and dampen down the area. Fire crews prevented the fire spreading to the house, the cause is believed accidental.

Time:  21.21    Location: Leeds and Liverpool Canal, Skipton

A Crew from Skipton responded to a report of a boat that had its engine running and smoke alarms sounding with no occupier on board. Crews completed a full inspection of the boat, there was no sign of smoke or fire.

Time: 23.32       Location: St Andrews Crescent, Harrogate 

Crews from Harrogate responded to a boiler causing a significant leak despite the stop tap being isolated by the occupant, crews assisted with minimalising water leaking from the boiler and also isolated the external stop tap. Crews advised to contact a plumber an emergency repair.

Time:  03.49    Location: Kilburn Road, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of a garden shed on fire in the area.  Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area. The cause if this fire is believed deliberate and Police were informed.

Time:  06.08    Location:  Kilburn Road, York

York and Acomb crews responded again to this locality after two further garden sheds ignited in the area.  Police were also requested and this incident is on going at the time of publication.

Crews from York (X3) and Filey responded to an automatic fire alarm activations at properties. After investigation these were found to be false alarms, advice was given to the responsible person present.
