Incident Summary – Thursday 26th February 2026 – Night Shift

Time: 19.12   Location: Freemantle Place, Ripon 

Crews from Ripon responded to a microwave on fire, on crew arrival the fire was out. The microwave was isolated and crews used a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no hotspots. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 22.46   Location: Ox Carr Lane, Strensall

Huntington and York crews responded to a late fire call, with reports that a washing machine had been smoking but had stopped. Crews investigated and found that the washing machine had been overheating therefore producing steam, crews isolated the appliance from the water and electrics as well as monitored it with a thermal imaging camera, ensuring there were no hotspots. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Crew from York responded to a report of an automatic fire alarm acivation.  This was found to be a false alarm due to testing system.

Time:  06.50   Location:  Carleton Street 

Crews from Skipton and Grassington responded to a report of an automatic fire alarm activation and smell of burning coming from a kitchen in a residential building.This Incident is ongoing at the time of publication.
