Incident Summary – Tuesday 3rd March – Night Shift

18:34 – Linton On Ouse

A crew from Acomb was mobilised to a report of a potential fire in a small commercial building. This was a false alarm good intent. Steam from a nearby muck heap was mistaken for smoke.

18:51 – Westborough, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a bin fire. The fire had been extinguished prior to the Fire Service arrival. Crews inspected the area and found no further fire spread.

19:06 – Wistow

Two crews from Selby attended an address following a report of a burning smell issuing from a bathroom. Crews carried out a thorough inspection using a thermal imaging camera and found no signs of heat, fire or smoke. This was a false alarm good intent with the cause of the smell believed to be cleaning fluids.

20:33 – Barrowcliff, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough were mobilised to a report of an overhead wire on fire above a residential property. This was a small fire to a radio aerial that had self-extinguished prior to the Fire Service arrival. Crews inspected the aerial which had suffered minor fire damage, and gave advice to the resident.

21:05 – Canal Road, Selby

A crew from Selby responded to a report of a large orange glow and smoke in the area. Crews searched the area and found no sign of smoke or fire.

21:09 – Volta Street, Selby

Two crews from Selby attended an area where there had been a report of a chimney fire. This was a false alarm caused by a trick of the light on a chimney pot.

00:00 – High Street, Stokesley

Stokesley’s crew assisted Yorkshire Ambulance Service with extricating a patient from a property. They used to power to lift the person into a road ambulance where they were then transported to hospital.

02:59 – Seamer, Stokesley

Crews from Stokesley, Northallerton, and Cleveland’s appliance from Coulby Newham attended a caravan park where four caravans were well alight. Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish the fires.

03:40 – Coach Road, Sleights

Whitby’s crew attended an address to gain entry on behalf of Yorkshire Ambulance Service. During the incident the crew were informed by a family member that the premises was currently unoccupied. No equipment used and access not gained.

 

Crews from Harrogate (x2), Scarborough and York were mobilised to automatic fire alarm activations throughout the evening. After thorough inspections these were all confirmed to be false alarms.
