Incident Summary – Day Shift – 9th March 2026

08:31 – Overton Road, Overton

Acomb’s appliance was mobilised to an incident involving hay bales and manure that had self ignited on farmland. Crews worked alongside the farmer to create a fire break and used a hose reel jet and pitch forks to assist with keeping the fire under control to burn out naturally.

09:05 – Moorview Way, Skipton

A crew from Skipton attended a residential property with a smoke alarm sounding. This was found to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

11:08 – Stirling Road, York

Acomb’s crew were mobilised to an incident to assist the RSPCA with a pigeon that was trapped in some netting on a roof. Crews used an aerial ladder platform and cutters to free the pigeon and the incident was left with the RSPCA.

11:50 – Victoria Road, Richmond

Ambulance requested assistance to gain entry to a residential property with a casualty inside. On crews arrival access had been gained so crews assisted using an IEC pack to administer first aid.

11:54 – Chapel Street, Thirsk

Crews from Thirsk and Northallerton were mobilised to an incident at a residential property that had an automatic fire alarm sounding. On crews arrival this was found to be a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

11:58 – York Road

Crews from Acomb attended a residential building that had an automatic fire alarm sounding. This was found to be a false alarm due to being tested by an engineer.

13:47 – Swainsea Lane, Pickering

Pickering’s crew were mobilised to an incident involving a caravan that was well alight in a layby. Crews used a thermal imaging camera, hose reel jet and ceiling hooks to extinguish the fire.

15:02 – Orchard Lane, Barkston Ash

Tadcaster’s crew attended a residential property where a casualty had fallen. Crews used crew power to assist them up into a chair and, due to them being uninjured, left them in the hands of family.

15:14 – Bawtry Road, Selby

Selby’s crew were mobilised to an incident involving heavy smoke coming from the area. After investigating, this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision.

15:31 – Blenheim Terrace, Scarborough

both of Scarborough’s crews were mobilised to an incident involving a late fire call. The fire was out on crews arrival but a thermal imaging camera was used to ensure there was no further risk.
