Incident Summary – Monday 9th March – Night Shift

Time:  17.44  Location:  Olivers Mount, Scarborough

A Crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a fire in the open, on arrival of the crews this was found to be a motorbike well alight.  Crews extinguished using 1 knapsack sprayer. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

Time:  18.29  Location: Water Lane, Ruswarp

A Crew from Whitby responded to a report of a fire in the open. This was found to be a camp fire that had spread to a bush and measured approx 2m x 2m.  Crews used 3 Knapsack sprayers to extinguish the fire and the Police were informed due to the fire being deliberate.

Time:  21.10  Location: A1 N J50 to J51

Crews from Ripon, Thirsk and Colburn responded to a report of a diesel vehicle with fire under the bonnet on the hard shoulder.  The fire was out on arrival of the crews. Crews inspected the engine bay with the thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no hotspots remaining.

Time:  22.29  Location: A1 S J57 – J56 Barton 

Crews from Richmond and Darlington responded to a report of a fire to the wheel of a lorry.  The fire was out on arrival of the fire service and crews cooled the wheel using 1 hose reel jet.

Time:  23.27  Location: Maple Close, Harrogate

A Crew from Harrogate responded to a report of a fire in a field.  Crews found a small waste fire and extinguished it using a knapsack sprayer.

Time:  23.59  Location:  Bracken Close, Whitby

A crew from Whitby responded to a request from assistance from a carer to assist with a patient who had become stuck.  Crews used crew power to assist the patient to a place of safety, unharmed.

Crews from York (x2), Scarborough, Malton, Acomb, Knaresborough and Colburn also attended reports of automatic fire alarms sounding. After investigation these were found to be false alarms.
