Incident Summary – Friday 13th March 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 08.10   Location: Abbey Walk, Selby 

Selby crews responded to reports of smoke in a building, on arrival this was a false alarm, with the cause being a smoke cloak device, crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property.

Time: 09.05     Location: Whitby 

A crew from Whitby assisted police and ambulance to make vehicles safe following a road traffic collision, crews used crew power to ensure the vehicles were safe.

Time: 11.39    Location: Northallerton Road

Northallerton crew alongside our colleagues from Darlington attended a three vehicle road traffic collision, on fire crew arrival nobody was trapped. Crews made the scene safe.

Time:  13.30   Location:  Frances Road, Richmond

Crews from Richmond and Colburn responded to a report of an electrical cable smoldering in a kitchen.  Crews isolated the electricity and gave advice to request the attendance of an electrician.

Time: 14.19     Location: Station Road, Grassington

Grassington crew responded to an individual stuck in a lift carriage in between floors, crews manually had to wind the lift up to release the individual. Advice was given to the responsible person to contact a lift engineer.

Time: 14.50   Location: York

A crew from York responded to an unattended fire in a field measuring 5 by 5 metres, crews used respirators and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.

Time: 15.13   Location: Thorpe Willoughby 

A crew from Selby responded to reports of a vehicle fire, crews assessed the car and found minor fire damage under the bonnet, crews use one hose reel jet to dampen down.

Time: 15.50       Location: Selby

Selby crews came across a two vehicle road traffic collision, all persons were out on crews arrival. Crews made the scene safe by moving the vehicles to a safe location. No further fire service action was required.

Crews from Northallerton, Selby and Acomb responded to a automatic fire alarm activations. On arrival these were found to be false alarms, advice was given to the responsible person.
