Incident Summary – Wednesday 18th March 2026 – Day Shift

Time:  08:17  Location: Dale Street, York

A crew from York responded to a request from the Ambulance service to help with the extrication of a casualty. Crew power and a drag sheet was used to extricate the casualty from a property to a road ambulance.

Time: 08:24  Location: Ripon

Crew from Ripon removed a ring using ring cutters from a persons finger after they self presented on station.

Time: 08:42  Location: Addingham

A crew from Skipton responded to a road traffic collision alongside West Yorkshire fire and rescue service. Crews assisted by using crew power to lift a casualty into a road ambulance. The incident was left with West Yorkshire fire and rescue service.

Time: 10:09  Location: B6265 Marton-le-moor

Crews from Ripon responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision involving a van and a car in which one casualty was trapped inside. Crews used e-draullic cutting equipment and small tools to remove the roof and release the casualty who was then left in the care of the ambulance service.

Time: 10:14  Location: St Nicholas Drove, Richmond

A crew from Richmond responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision. All persons were out on arrival and crews made the scene safe.

Time: 10:47  Location: Wiggington Road, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of a vehicle smoking. On arrival this was found to be steam from the vehicle overheating. Advice was given.

Time: 12:45  Location: Appleton Wiske

A crew from Northallerton responded to a horse which had its legs trapped in bars in a stable. Crews made area safe and used equipment to open bars in order to release horse. vet was in attendance and had sedated horse prior to fire service arrival.

Time: 14:00  Location: Barrys Lane, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a vehicle which was on fire. Crews extinguished the fire and dampened down using one hose reel jet, 2 breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.

Time: 14:57  Location: Commondale, Whitby

A crew from Danby responded to a report of trees on fire. On arrival this was confirmed to be a control burn under supervision. Advice was given.

Time: 14:58  Location: Wellington Road, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to reports of a smell of gas in a commercial building. Initial investigations and monitoring of building carried out and incident handed over to gas network on their arrival. Incoming gas supply isolated by Northern Gas. Incident left with gas network.

Time: 15:03  Location: Goathland

Crews from Whitby, Lythe and Goathland responded to reports of a fire sighted on the moor. On arrival this was confirmed to be controlled burning under supervision. Advice was given.

Time: 15:34  Location: Sleights

A crew from Whitby attended a road traffic collision in which a motorbike had come off the road. Crews carried out casualty care with general first aid. Ambulance had been requested prior to arrival of fire and rescue crews. Incident left with Police on scene.

Time: 15:48  Location: Portholme Road, Selby

A crew from Selby responded to a young person who was accidentally locked inside a car. Crews used small tools and glass management equipment to gain entry to the car and reunite the young person, who was safe and well, with their parent.

Time: 16:21  Location: Askham Richard, York

A crew from Tadcaster attended a fire sighted in the open. This was a fire measuring approximately 5m x 5m consisting of trees, shrubbery and metal objects. Crews extinguished using 2 knapsack sprayers.

 

Crews from Harrogate and Malton attended fire alarm activations. On arrival, after investigation these were all confirmed as false alarms.
