Incident Summary – Saturday 21st March 2026 – Day Shift
Time: 10.15 Location: A1M
A crew from Richmond responded to reports of a vehicle fire on the A1, on arrival the vehicle was not on fire, but was smoking heavily. Crews used a hose reel jet to cool and dampen the vehicle down, and used edraulic cutting equipment to gain access to the bonnet. Cause believed to be mechanical fault. Highways attended this incident to organise recovery of the vehicle.

Selby crew responded to a report of a child who had become locked in a car. Crews awaited the arrival of a local locksmith who gained entry to the vehicle and no fire service action was necessary.
Time: 12.10 Location: Rufforth, York
A crew from Acomb responded to a request to assist Ambulance to gain entry to a property due to welfare requirements of the occupant. Crews gained entry after the occupant answered the door.
Time: 14.26 Location: Bonfire Hill, Grantley
A crew from Ripon responded to a report of smoke sighted by a member of public. On arrival of the crews this was found to be controlled heather burning under supervision of a responsible person.
Time: 16.24 Location: York
A crew from Acomb responded to water leaking into a property and it affecting the electrics. Crews isolated the water and left the incident with the housing association. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
Crews from Ripon responded to automatic fire alarms, after investigation these were found to be false alarms. Advice was given to the responsible person present.
