Incident Summary – Saturday 21st March 2026 – Night Shift
Time: 17:00 Location: Micklegate, York
Crews from York and Huntington responded to reports of a electrical cupboard in a commercial property which was full of smoke. Crew exposed the paneling but were unable to find initial cause of the smoke. Crews isolated electrics and handed the incident over to Northern Power to investigate further.
Time: 17:27 Location: New Quay Road, Whitby
A crew from Whitby responded to a report of a bin on fire. The fire was out on arrival and crews dampened down hotspots using one hose reel jet. Cause believed deliberate.
Time: 18:08 Location: A64, Tadcaster
A crew from Tadcaster responded to reports of a vehicle smoking. On arrival there were no signs of fire and crews checked the vehicle with a thermal imaging camera. Crews provided scene safety and ensured the vehicle was safe from moving traffic until the arrival of the recovery vehicle. Advice was given.

A crew from Malton responded to a small fire in the open. Crews extinguished the fire and the cause was believed deliberate.

A crew from Easingwold responded to reports of a fire sighted in a garden. On arrival this was confirmed to be controlled burning under supervision.
Time: 18:51 Location: Melrosegate, York
A crew from Huntington responded to a fire in the open measuring approximately 5m x 5m, consisting of wood. Crews used a knapsack sprayer and shovel to extinguish. Cause believed deliberate.
Time: 19:14 Location: Regent Street, York
A crew from Harrogate responded to a young person trapped inside a bedroom after a door malfunction. They were released and carried out from the bedroom window safely. Advice was given to the parent to seek advice for an emergency repair by their landlord.
Time: 19:59 Location: Chruch Street, Filey
Filey gained entry to a property to assist an elderly person who had fallen inside their property after neighbours were unable to gain access themselves to help. Ambulance crews were informed and enroute while fire crews assisted the elderly occupant back to a safe position to check for any obvious signs of injuries. Once ambulance arrived, fire crews fitted 2 new smoke alarms to the property and the incident was left with paramedics to conduct their medical assessments. Gain entry kit and crew power used only.
Time: 21:17 Location: Howe Road, Malton
A crew assisted an elderly person from their bathroom floor back to a safe position after their partner was unable to move them alone. Following medical advice from the ambulance service over the phone, crews moved the occupant back to safe position prior to ambulance crews arriving. The occupant was left in the care of their partner who was happy to wait for the arrival of paramedics. Crew power used only.
Time: 00:42 Location: Eversley Mount, Sherburn in Elmet
Tadcaster responded to a tree trunk smouldering on a footpath behind residential properties. Crews extinguished the fire using a knapsack sprayer. The cause of this fire is believed to had been deliberate after an aerosol was found at the bottom of the tree trunk. Knapsack sprayer used.
Time: 01:08 Location: Skipton Road, Skipton
Skipton mobilised to a hybrid vehicle on its roof. Police were in attendance prior to fire crews arrival. No persons were trapped. Crews monitored temperature of vehicle with a thermal, imaging camera. Once crew isolated the vehicle and made the vehicle safe, the incident was left in the hands of police to arrange recovery.

A crew from Richmond responded to a report of masonry falling onto a residential building and footpath. This was found to be mortar which had become loose. Crews cordoned off the area and advice was given to the resident to contact a builder in daylight hours and leave the cordon in place until a builder had attended.
Time: 05:46 Location: Seamer Road, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision in which a vehicle had collided with a lamppost. The driver was out on arrival of crews and in the care of paramedics. Crews isolated the vehicle and made the scene safe.
Crews from Scarborough (x2), Ripon and Knaresborough attended fire alarm activations. After investigation, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
