Incident Summary – 23rd March 2026 – Night Shift

Time:  17.43   Location:  Monks Cross Drive, York

A crew from York responded to a report of a vehicle leaking 8- 10 litres of fuel on a petrol station forecourt.  Crews Isolated the petrol pumps and stemmed the leak using dammit paste to enable the vehicle to be moved off the forecourt.  Crews gave advice to the vehicle occupant regarding recovery and used sand to make the forecourt safe until a professional can clean up the fuel properly.

Time:  17.45   Location:  Harwood Dale, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire that had been sighted from a main road.  An arrival the crews carried out a full 360 degree search of the area on foot and were unable to locate any sign of fire in the vicinity.

Time:  19.19   Location:  Easton Way, Colburn

The crew from Colburn responded to a report of a fire that had been sighted in a field.  Crews found this to be a controlled burn that had been left unattended. Crews extinguished the fire using 1 hose reel jet.

Time:  19.38   Location:  New Brighton, Gargrave

Crews from Skipton responded to a report of a fire which was sighted in the distance that looked to be affecting farm buildings. On arrival of the Crew this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision.

Time:  19.38  Location:  Thirsk Road, Northallerton

A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of a fire in a field.  This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision by a responsible person.

Time:  20.17  Location: Cricketers Way, Sherburn in Elmet

A crew from Tadcaster responded to a report of a fire to a bin.  Crews used buckets of water to extinguish the fire.

Time: 21.17  Location: The Crescent, Northallerton

A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of a smell of smoke and sparks coming from a garden fence. On arrival crew found remains of a small fire consisting of household waste in an alleyway at the back of the property, the fire had spread to the garden fence. The fire was out on crew arrival, but crews used water buckets to dampen down and a thermal imaging camera to ensure no hotspots. Cause is believed to be deliberate.

Time: 22.39    Location: Ruswarp Lane, Whitby 

Whitby crews assisted paramedics gain entry to a property over concerns for the occupant. On arrival the occupant was able to open the door, fire service assisted paramedics getting the occupant into the ambulance, crews left the individual in the care of the paramedics.

Time: 22.48   Location: Dunslow Road, Scarborough 

A crew from Scarborough responded to a vehicle leaking petrol. Crews moved the vehicle to a safe location due the petrol leak on the floor, and disconnected the battery to make the vehicle safe. Advice was given to the owner and recovery of the vehicle was being arranged.

Time:  03.52  Location: Little Croft, Markington.

A crew from Harrogate responded to a request from Ambulance to assist with gaining entry to a property due to concerns for the welfare of the occupant.  On entry to the premises it was found to be empty.

 

Crews from Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, York, Acomb and Huntington also attended automatic fire alarm activations.  After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
