Incident Summary – 31st March Night Shift

Time: 18.01  Location: Earswick Chase, York

A crew from Acomb responded to a report of youths setting a fire in woodland.  Crews located a camp fire that was unattended and extinguished it using buckets of water and a knapsack sprayer.

Time: 19.44  Location: Dunslow Road, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a fire in a field.  On arrival at the incident crews found youths had built a bonfire but not yet lit it.  Crews gave safety advice.

Time: 19.45  Location:  Colne Road, Glusburn

Crews from Skipton, Grassington and Keighley (West Yorks FRS) responded to a report of a fire at an industrial site. On arrival crews found a small fire within the premises, crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down. Crews ensured there were no hotspots, the cause is believed to be a mechanical malfunction with machinery.

Time: 20.57  Location: Thornburgh Road, Scarborough 

Scarborough crew responded to reports of a fire in a field, on crew arrival this was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time: 22.14  Location: Brackenhill Lane, Church Fenton 

A crew from Tadcaster responded to reports of a fire in a field. On crew arrival a fire consisting of household waste measuring approximately 05 metres by 10 metres had been left unattended. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Time: 00.53  Location: Hambleton Road, Norton 

A crew from Malton responded to assist ambulance crew extricate a casualty from a property. Using ambulance equipment fire crews safely moved the casualty into the ambulance and left them in the care of the paramedics.

Time: 04.43  Location:  Yorkersgate, Malton

A crew from Malton responded to a report of a casualty that had fallen in their property and were unable to get back up.  Crews used crew power to lift the person back into bed.

Crews from York also attended reports of automatic fire alarm activations.  After inspection these were found to be false alarms.
