Incident Summary – Sunday 5th April 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 09.45  Location: Harrogate Road

Harrogate crew alongside assistance from Wetherby crews (West Yorkshire Fire) responded to a three vehicle road traffic collision. On arrival of the fire service there was nobody trapped in the vehicles, crews disconnected batteries and checked for hotspots using the thermal imaging camera. Crews left the incident with the police.

A crew from Settle responded to reports of a dormer window flapping in the wind, crews used a roof ladder and 9 metre ladder to gain access to the window and tied down the fibreglass roof on the dormer window using 15m line and rachet strap. contact was made with the owner and advice was given.

Richmond crew responded to reports of a house fire, on arrival this was found to be false alarm due to smoke down-drafting from wood burning stove. Advice was given to responsible person present.

Time: 13.30    Location: A658, Harrogate Road

Both Harrogate crews attended a vehicle that had crashed into a wall, on fire crew arrival all persons were out the vehicle. Crews made the vehicle safe by isolating the electric vehicles high voltage system using electric gloves, crews used a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature of the battery. Incident was handed over to the police.

Knaresborough crew responded to a young child locked in a car, crews used small tools to gain entry, no injuries were sustained and they were reunited with their parents on scene.

Time: 14.00    Location: Union Street, Filey 

A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of roof tiles at risk of of falling onto a footpath. Crews used the aerial ladder platform to gain access and make the roof safe. Advice was given to the responsible person on scene.

Time: 14.27    Location: Harrogate

An individual self presented themselves to Harrogate fire station with a ring stuck on their finger, crews safely removed it using a battery ring cutter. Advice was given.
