Incident Summary – Tuesday Nightshift, 21st April 2026

Time: 18:53    Location: Lotherington Mews, York

A crew from York responded to a fire sighted in the open. Crews used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish. Cause believed deliberate.

Time: 19:24    Location: North Lane, Huntington

Crews from Acomb and Huntington responded to reports of a barn on fire. On arrival of crews this was found to be straw bales which were well alight. Crews extinguished using two hose reel jets and one breathing apparatus.

Time:  20:45   Location: Gildercliffe, Scarborough 

Scarborough responded to smoke seen at the back of a property. After inspection, this was controlled burning inside a brazier. Crews gave advice to the responsible person.

Time: 21:05    Location: Hob Moor, Acomb

Acomb responded to multiple reports of bushes on fire at Hob Moor. Crews extinguished the fire which measured 5 x 5 metres using knapsack sprayers. The cause of the fire is believed to had been deliberate.

Time:  22:37    Location: Broxa Forest, Scarborough

Scarborough responded to reports of smoke seen in woodland. After a complete inspection of the area, crews located no smoke or fire in the area. This was confirmed as a false alarm with good intent.

Time:  23:32   Location: Castle Road, Scarborough

Scarborough assisted ambulance crews with the difficult extrication of a patient who had fallen inside their property. Crews used paramedics scoop stretcher and crew power to lift the patient to the awaiting road ambulance outside the property. The incident was left with paramedics to transport the patient to hospital.

Time: 01:45   Location: Brompton on Swale

Crews from Richmond and Bedale responded to reports of a building fire. On arrival after investigation this was confirmed to be a false alarm with good intent.

 

Crews from Skipton and York also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were all confirmed as false alarms.
