Incident Summary – 3rd July 2026

Time: 17:40   Location:  Tang Hall, York

York mobilised to a fire in some bushes off a cycle path. Crews extinguished the fire measuring 3 x 3 metres with buckets of water and knapsack sprayers. Police were informed as the cause of the fire was believed to had been deliberate.

Time: 18:15  Location:  Richmond

A crew responded to a campfire under supervision by the riverbank. Crews gave advice to the responsible people who then extinguished the fire themselves using river water. No further action was required.

Time: 18:58  Location:  Alma Square, York

York and Acomb mobilised to an alarm activation where the occupant had reported smoke inside their flat to the alarm company. Control staff made contact with the occupant prior to fire crews arrival and discovered the smoke was from cooking fumes. The occupant was advised to leave their property and await fire crews arrival so that an inspection could be completed. The property was naturally ventilated and advice was given to the occupant.

Time: 19:32   Location:  Sutton-in-Craven, Skipton

Skipton were requested by ambulance to gain entry to a property for welfare concerns for the occupant. Crews gained entry using a triple exterior ladder and found no occupant inside. No further fire service action was required and the incident was left by ambulance crews to investigate further.

Time: 21:44   Location:  Pottery Lane, York

York and Acomb mobilised to smoke reported inside a domestic property. Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and discovered that the smoke was from an insect smoke bomb and all persons were accounted for with no injuries. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the property and advice was given to the residents.

Time: 23:00  Location: Primrose Valley, Filey

Filey alongside a rope rescue team from Scarborough assisted police, ambulance and coastguard with rescuing a person who had fallen 20 metres down a cliff after loosing their footing. Fire crews assisted coastguard with setting up line rescue equipment prior to the coastguards helicopters arrival to see if they could also assist. However, the helicopter winch was not possible due downwash from the rotary blades proving unsafe. Crews then used the line rescue equipment which had already been set up to access the casualty and winch them to safety on a stretcher. The casualty was taken to hospital for injuries not believed life threatening.

York mobilised to reports from residents who could smell smoke in the area, believing it could be from a previous fire York dayshift attended earlier. However after inspection no fire was located. This was a false alarm with good intent.

Time: 01:04  Location:  Spa Lane, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a fire alarm activation inside a domestic property. On arrival and after investigation, this was confirmed to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Time: 02:19  Location:  Welham Road, Norton

Crews from Malton responded to a report of a bang and a smell of burning coming from a dishwasher within a residential property. On arrival and after investigation, this was confirmed to be a false alarm. Advice was given to a responsible person.

Time: 04:41  Location:  Ramshill Road, Scarborough

Scarborough responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

Time: 05:12  Location:  Bishopthorpe Road, York

York were requested to gain entry to a property for ambulance crews who were unable to gain access. Crews gained access via small window and found the occupant safe inside. The incident was left in the hands of paramedics.
