Incident Summary – 15th July – Day Shift
08:21 – Ingsgarth, Pickering
Kirkbymoorside’s crew responded to a late fire call at a residential property where a fence had caught fire due to compost. The fire was out on arrival of crews so the area was fully inspected and advice was given to the occupier.
08:37 – Swan Hill Road, Scarborough
Scarborough’s first pump attended a residential property with an automatic fire alarm sounding. This was found to be a false alarm due to a fault on the system.
08:55 – Alness Drive, York
Acomb’s retained appliance were mobilised to a hedge that had sparked up following a previous incident. The fire was out on crews arrival due to a member of the public using water to extinguish it. crews scanned for further hotspots and dampened down the area using a thermal imaging camera and a hose reel jet.
10:32 – Linden Grove, Great Ayton
Stokesley’s crew responded to a fire in a residential garden that measured approximately 2 square metres. Crews used a hose reel jet, thermal imagining camera and small tools to extinguish and check for hotspots. Advice was given to the occupier.
10:54 – Old Wifes Way, Lockton
Pickering’s appliance responded to reports of smoke in the area, this was found to be a false alarm due to mist.
13:24 – Deighton Lane, Little Smeaton
Northallerton’s pump was mobilised to a tree fire due to embers from a bonfire catching onto it. Crews used one hose reel jet, small tools and hose reel lance were used to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area. This incident is still ongoing.
13:31 – Shambles Lane, Hutton Conyers
Both appliances from Ripon, Thirsk, both Harrogate appliances, and Richmond were mobilised to a standing crop fire measuring approximately 200M by 500M. Crews, alongside farmers, created fire breaks to prevent further spread. Crews used four hose reel jets and eight beaters to extinguish the fire and dampen down. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots. This incident is still ongoing.
14:01 – Beckwith Head Road, Harrogate
Knaresborough’s appliance responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding. This was found to be a false alarm due to dust in the detector head.
14:08 – Penny Pot Lane, Norwood
Skipton’s appliance were mobilised to black smoke that had been sighted. This was found to be a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.
14:15 – Southdown Road, Huntington
York’s appliance were requested by ambulance to assist with the difficult extrication of a patient from their property. Crew power was used to transport them into the road ambulance where they were then taken to hospital.
14:18 – Rievaulx Bank, Hemlsley
Crews from Helmsley and Pickering were mobilised to a standing crop fire measuring 200M by 100M. With the assistance of local farmers and their equipment, the fire was extinguished by crews using two hose reel jets and one thermal imaging camera. Incident was left with a responsible person.
14:41 – St Nicholas Avenue, York
Acomb’s appliance were mobilised to a car fire. After investigation from crews this was found to be a false alarm due to overheated turbo. Incident was left with the driver.
15:06 – Sandstone Road, Eastfield
Both Scarborough crews were requested by ambulance to assist with the difficult extrication of a patient from their property. Crew used crew power to move them into the road ambulance and the incident was left with paramedics.
