Incident Summary – Thursday, 16th July
Time: 07:26 Location: Templar Gardens, Wetherby
Harrogate and Tadcaster mobilised to a request from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to assist with reports of a property fire with the occupant believed to still be inside and unable to evacuate. West Yorkshire crews arrived on scene first and confirmed there was no fire at the property and North Yorkshire appliances would not be required. The incident was left with West Yorkshire crews to investigate further.
Time: 10:10 Location: Upper Poppleton, Acomb
Acomb responded to reports of black smoke seen from a main road. After investigation, this was confirmed as a controlled burn with the responsible person in attendance. Crews gave advice to extinguish the fire due to the ongoing dry conditions.
Time: 10:57 Location: Lancaster Park Road, Harrogate
Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. This was confirmed as a false alarm after inspection. Advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 12:42 Location: Bawtry Road, Selby
Selby crew were approached by a member of the public whilst parked up in the area requesting help with retrieving thier set of keys they accidentally dropped down a drain cover. Despite crews best efforts they were unable to assist and advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 13:04 Location: A64, Grimston
York responded to a small fire to an electrical pack being transported in the back of a van. The power pack had been removed from the van prior to fire crews arrival and had been extinguished by a passerby using a dry powder extinguisher. The power pack sustained minor fire damage but crews dampened down the battery with a hose reel jet to avoid any chance reignition. The van sustained no fire damage and the incident was left with the vehicle owner.
Time: 14:20 Location: Highfield Road, Malton
Malton responded to an activated fire alarm inside a building. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false.
Time: 14:30 Location: Scarborough Fire Station
Scarborough removed a ring stuck on a persons finger after they attended the fire station for assistance. The ring was removed safely using ring cutters. However a second ring was unable to be removed and advice was given to the person to attend hospital for further medical assistance.
Time: 14:51 Location: Osbaldwick, York
York and Acomb responded to a shed measuring 2 metres by 1.5 metres which had spread to a garden fence. Crews extinguished the shed using a hose reel jet which was fully damaged.
Time: 14:54 Location: Otley Road, Harrogate
Knaresborough alongside Harrogate and their ariel ladder platform responded to reported of person climbing a high tower. On arrival, crews located the person on the ground floor and handed them into the care of paramedics. No further fire service action was required.
Time: 14:59 Location: Catterick Lane, Catterick
Richmond responded to a pile of rubbish well alight found on a back road. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
Time: 15:34 Location: Fulford, York
Selby mobilised to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection, this was confirmed as a false alarm.
Time: 15:39 Location: Fylingdales
Lythe responded to signs of smoke reported in the area. After investigation, crews discovered that resurfacing work was taking place within the nearby forest which produced dust mistaken as smoke. This was false alarm with good intent.
Time: 16:39 Location: Stapleton
Richmond responded to a fire consisting of garden clipping. A neighbour had attempted to extinguish the fire with their hose pipe prior to fire crews arrival. Fire crews used a hose reel jet to dampen down the area and advice was given to the homeowner.
Time: 16:57 Location: Station Road, Thrisk
Thirsk mobilised to a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a shed. The driver was out on arrival and crews are currently still on scene making the vehicle and shed safe.
