Incident Summary – Wednesday 15th July 2026 – Night Shift

Time:   16:07  Location: Kirk Smeaton 

Tadcaster crew attended a small fire in the open. After investigation of the area was found to be a false alarm.

Time: 16:51    Location: Bowes Park, Harrogate 

Harrogate Crews attended a fire in a residential property. On arrival was found to be electric shower on fire. Crews used water from bath tap to extinguish.

Time: 17:07   Location: Thanet Road, York 

Acomb crew were mobilised to a fire in the open. On arrival was found to be 1 grass fire measuring 15mx2m. crews extinguished the fire using 2 hose reel jets. Believed to be deliberate.

Time: 17:37    Location: Moor Monkton 

Acomb crews were mobilised to a large vehicle on fire. On arrival was a combine harvester. Crews used 2 hose reel jets, 2 breathing apparatus, thermal imaging camera and small tools to extinguish the fire. Advice was given to farmer on scene and no further action required.

Time:   17:46  Location: Baffam Lane, Brayton 

Selby and Tadcaster crews were mobilised to a suspected explosion. On arrival was found to be a small fire in a garden. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Advice was given to responsible person on scene.

Time: 18:24    Location: Easby 

Stokesley crew attended a fire in the open. On arrival was a small fire approximately 5x15m on peat land. Incident left open for a revisit.

Time:  18:32    Location:  Kirkham Close, Whitby 

Whitby crew attended an automatic fire alarm sounding at a residential property. On arrival was found to be a tea towel on the hob. Crews removed the tea towel and ventilated the property by opening windows.

Time:   18:34  Location:  Water Lane, York

York crew was mobilised to a fire in the open. On arrival was found to be a small fire measuring 3x2m. Fire was out on arrival. Crews dampened down the area with knapsack sprayers.

Time: 18:46    Location:  Royal albert Drive, Scarborough

Scarborough Crews were mobilised to a fire sighted in the open. On investigation crews could not locate a fire so no further action was required.

Time:  21:11   Location:  Heslington, York 

York crew were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm in a residential building. On arrival was found to be a false alarm due to a faulty detector head.

Time:  21:21   Location:  Brandsdale Crescent, York

York crews were mobilised to a smell of gas in a property due to a gas cooker being left on. Occupant had dispersed the gas prior to the arrival of fire crews.

Time:    22:13  Location:  Manor Lane, York 

Acomb crew attended a 3 car road traffic collision. One person was assisted out of the vehicle using crew power and left in the responsibility of the ambulance on scene.

Time:  22:15   Location:  Hillam Common Lane, Hillam

Selby crew were mobilised to a fire in the open. On arrival small fire was found measuring 3x3m. Crews used one hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera and respiratory protection to extinguish the fire. Left with the responsible person on scene.

Time: 22:37    Location: Blue Bridge Lane, York 

York crew was mobilised to a automatic fire alarm in a residential building. On arrival of crews was found to be a false alarm. No further action required.

Time:   23:46  Location: Sheburn In Elmet

York and Selby and crews were mobilised to electrical cables that had caught fire. On arrival was found to be 2 high voltage power cables well alight. Electricity engineers were on scene to make the area safe and isolate the power. Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and powder fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire. Cause believed electrical.  Left with the responsible person on scene.

Time:  02:54   Location: St Patricks Way, Harrogate

Harrogate Crew were mobilised to a fire in the open. On arrival was found to be a garden fire consisting of 6 pallets alight. Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish fire. Police were also on scene and incident left with the police.

Time:  03:13   Location: Jasmine Court, Burniston 

Scarborough crew were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm sounding in a residential building. On arrival was found to be a false alarm with no further action required.

Scarborough Crew revisited a property after another alarm sounding, this was found to be a false alarm and advice was given to the responsible person present.

Time:  03:41   Location: Eastfield, Scarborough

Crews from Pickering responded to an automatic fire alarm activation, this was found to be a false alarm and the panel was reset by the responsible person.

Time: 04:26    Location: Leyburn

Leyburn crews responded to an automatic fire alarm activation, after investigation this was found to be a false alarm. Crews gave advice to the responsible person present.
