Incident Summary Day Shift Sunday 19th July

Time: 07:44  Location: A171, Robin Hoods Bay

Crew from Robin Hoods Bay responded to reports of smoke sighted on moorland. Following a search of the area this was found to be caused by dust from the moorland being blown across the road.

Time: 09:17  Location: Flixton

Crew from Crew from Scarborough assisted paramedics with a difficult extrication of a casualty from a property. Crew power only used to lift female from property to waiting ambulance.

Time: 09:59  Location: Scagglethorpe

Crew from Malton responded to reports of a large bonfire in a field. This was found to be a controlled burn. Occupier was in attendance and had means to extinguish the fire.

Time: 11:11 Location: York

Crew from Acomb assisted carer’s gaining entry to a property. Occupier was safe and well.

Time: 14:58   Location: A66, Ravensworth

Crew from Richmond responded to reports of a grass verge on fire. On arrival crews carried out a search of the area and located a small grass fire in a layby. Crew used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish.

Time: 15:31  Location: Hob Moor, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to multiple calls regarding a fire on hob moor in York, on arrival they requested a further appliance from Selby to assist. The fire measured approx 200 x 300 metres in size and consisted of grassland. Crews used beaters, knapsack sprayers and hose reel jets to fight the fire. Incident is ongoing at this time.

Time: 15:39  Location: Great Ayton

Crew from Stokesley responded to reports of smouldering peat near to Captain cooks monument. Crews attended and carried out a search of the area. Crew located 2 areas of Peat land smouldering. They used wildfire tools and hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down.

Time: 16:28  Location: York

Crew from Easingwold responded to reports of youths starting a fire in undergrowth. On arrival crew carried out a search of the area but were unable to locate any fire.

 

During the day crews from Knaresborough, Scarborough and York have attended automatic fire alarm activations. These resulted in false alarms.
