Incident Summary – Wednesday, 22nd July 2026
Time: 17:00 Location: Mayfield Road, Whitby
Whitby responded to a bag of textiles that had been fly dipped and set on fire. Crews extinguished the fire using a bucket of water.
Time: 17:10 Location: Keighley Road, Cowling
Skipton responded to reports of smoke seen coming from the kitchen of domestic property. On arrival, crews confirmed this as a false alarm due to cooking fumes. Advice was given.
Time: 18:23 Location: Royal Albert Drive, Scarborough
Scarborough responded to reports of a fire. After inspection, this was a supervised BBQ and advice was given to the responsible people.
Time: 18:41 Location: North Field, Acomb
A crew from Acomb responded to a small fire measuring 1 x 1 metres consisting of a disposable BBQ and rubbish. Crews used knapsack sprayers to extinguish the fire and police were informed as this fire was believed deliberate.
Time: 19:30 Location: A165, Osgodby
A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a car smoking. After inspection, no fire was located but the vehicle had broken down on a busy road. Crews moved the vehicle to a safe location for the occupant to await recovery.

Ripon responded to reports of a fire seen by a road user. After inspection, this was a controlled burn under supervision. Crews gave advice to the responsible person.
Time: 21:26 Location: Royal Albert Driver, Scarborough
Scarborough responded to reports of a fire seen in the area. After an inspection, no signs of smoke or fire could be located.
Time: 22:31 Location: St Nicholas Cliff, Scarborough
Scarborough responded to five people trapped inside the lift of a residential building. Crews released all persons safely using lift keys. Advice was given and an engineer was contacted to inspect lift.
Time: 23:18 Location: Scarborough Road, Filey
Filey were requested by police to assist ambulance with gaining entry to a property after there was no response from the occupant inside. Crews gained access using small tools and left the occupant in the hands of paramedics.
Time: 00:19 Location: West Park Street, Harrogate
Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. After inspection, this was confirmed a false alarm.
Time: 00:26 Location: Kirkby Malzeard
Masham responded to a burst water main flooding the front garden of a property. Crews rediverted water from nearby properties using stones and Yorkshire Water were informed to attend and rectify the issue as soon as possible.
Time: 01:02 Location: Trafalgar Square, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough responded to an activated fire alarm heard within the area. Crews investigated the area and located the alarm activation within a residential building. The occupier was unable to disable alarm due to a fault which confirmed this as a false alarm. Crews carried out a home fire safety check before leaving the scene.
Time: 03:00 Location: The Boulevard, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough responded to a fire sighted in a field. On arrival was found to be a fire in the open measuring 40x10m. Crews dampened down using 2 hose reel jets, knapsack sprayer, wildfire tools and argocat. Incident is currently ongoing. Crews revisiting later on to carry out further checks.

Acomb Crew were mobilised to a automatic fire alarm. On arrival this was found to be a false alarm and no further action required.
Time: 05:06 Location: Foss Bank, York
York and Acomb Crews were mobilised to a water rescue after reports of a person stuck in the river. On arrival of crews person was out of the river and was then brought into the care of ambulance on scene.
