Incident Summary – 31st July 2026, Night shift
17:30 – Morton on Swale Village
A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of a bonfire that had been left unattended. Crews located 1 small fire smouldering that was being dampened down by the owner. Advice was given.
17:41 – Church Street, Church Fenton
A crew from Tadcaster responded to a report of smoke seen in the area. Crews found this to be a false alarm due to fumes coming from a diesel generator. Advice was given to a responsible person.
17:53 – Filey Road, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of an alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.
18:00 – Milford Road, South Milford
Crews from Tadcaster, Acomb, Selby, and over the border appliance Pontefract and the water bowser from Tadcaster responded to a report of a fire to a hay bale which spread to approximately 15 acres of field. Crews used 4 hose reel jets, wildfire tools and water from the bowser and local farmers bowsers to extinguish. This incident remains open for a revisit and to determine the cause.
18:01 – Weeland Road, Hensall
A crew from Snaith responded to a report of a fire in the garden of a property. This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. No fire service action was taken.
18:55 – Braxton Road, Helmsley
A crew from Helmsley responded to a report of persons seen lighting a BBQ on moorland. On arrival of crews the BBQ had been extinguished and no fire service action was required. Advice was given to responsible persons.
18:56 – Prince Rupert Drive, Tockwith
A crew from York responded to a report of a fire consisting of conifers. On the arrival of crews the fire had been extinguished. Advice given.
19:42 – Ganton Hill, Ganton
Crews from Scarborough responded to a tractor on fire. Crews used 1 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets to extinguish.
20:17 – Montague Street, York
York crew were mobilised to assist Ambulance to remove a casualty from a residential premises onto the road Ambulance. Crews left casualty in the care of Paramedics.
21:35 – Briercliffe, Scarborough
Malton crew responded to reports of black smoke sighted in local vicinity, this was confirmed to be a false alarm from controlled burning.
21:44 – Gildercliffe, Scarborough
Malton crew responded to further reports of black smoke sighted in local vicinity, this was confirmed to be a false alarm from controlled burning.
02:36 – Nelson Street, York
A crew from York were mobilised to a report of an automatic fire alarm, this was confirmed to be a false alarm caused by a faulty detector.
