Incident Summary – Friday 14th August 2026 – Day Shift

Time: 07.22      Location: Brayton

Crews from Selby responded to two seats of fire in a wooded area. Crews used 2 knapsack sprayers to extinguish.

Time: 08:54       Location: Gayleburn, Skipton 

Skipton Crew were mobilised to a fire in the open. On arrival was found to be a compost heap that had set alight. Crews used 1 hose reel jet and 1 thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Advice was given to responsible person on scene. Believed accidental.

Time:   09:17    Location: Hawksker Lane, Whitby 

Whitby Crew were mobilised to smoke sighted in the open. After a thorough search of the area no fire was located and no action was required by the fire service.

Time:   11:05    Location: Topcliffe

A crew from Thirsk responded to smoke sighted. After investigation this was found to be a false alarm and was believed to be due to dust from an agricultural vehicle.

Time: 11:42      Location: Carleton road, Skipton

A crew from Skipton responded to a fire sighted in the open. This was a bonfire measuring approximately 5m x 2m. Crews extinguished using a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera. Advice was given.

A crew from Harrogate responded to a request from the Ambulance service to gain entry to a residential property after the occupant had fallen inside and was behind the door. Crews used a triple extension ladder to gain entry and assisted the paramedics with extricating the casualty to a road ambulance.

Time: 12:54      Location: Elvington Lane, York

A crew from York responded to a fire in a field measuring approximately 150m x 30m. Crews extinguished using one hose reel jet.

Time: 13:26      Location: Suffield, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a fire in a field. This was found to be a bonfire measuring 5mx5m. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish fire.

Time: 14:02      Location: Grafton Lane, Aldborugh

Ripon crew were mobilised to a fire sighted in the open. On arrival this was found to be a controlled burn with responsible person on scene. No Action required by fire service.

Time:   14:13     Location: Seamer, Scarborough

Filey crew were mobilised to a fire sighted in the open. On arrival of fire crews was found to be a controlled burn. with means to extinguish on scene. No action required from the fire crew.

Stokesley, Northallerton and Tadcaster  crews were mobilised to a fire in a field. On arrival of crews was found to be a building on fire measuring approximately 10mx10m. crews used 2 hose reel jets and 2 breathing apparatus. Incident is currently ongoing.

Time:  14:15     Location: Kirk Balk Lane, Claxton 

Acomb , Malton and York Crews were mobilised to a fire in the open. On arrival was found to be a wildfire measuring approximately 1000mx500m. Crews used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish fire. Incident left in the hands of the farmer.

Time:     14:27   Location: Eppleby Road, Forcett 

Richmond Crew were mobilised to a fire in a field. On arrival was found to be a field and hedgerow on fire. Incident still ongoing.

Time:   15:03     Location: Catterick Village 

Darlington and Northallerton crew were mobilised to a hedgerow on fire. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. An ambulance was requested to assist a casualty on scene.

Time:   15:41    Location: High Hill Lane, Settle 

Skipton Crew were mobilised to a smoke sited in a woodland area. This incident currently have fire crews in attendance and is ongoing.

Time:   16:10    Location: Cleasby

Reeth crews were mobilised to smoke sighted in the open. On arrival was found to be a false alarm.

Time:     16:39   Location: Ouston Lane, Tadcaster

Knaresborough crews were mobilised to assist ambulance in extracting a casualty out of a premises. Crews used crew power to assist the casualty into the road ambulance to be taken to hospital.
