Incident Summary – Thursday 27th August – Night shift

Time: 17:29  Location: Elvington, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a single vehicle road traffic collision with reports of persons trapped. All persons were out on arrival of crews and in the care of paramedics. No fire service action was required.

Time: 17:33  Location: Cemetery Road, York

A crew from Tadcaster attended a single vehicle road traffic collision in which a car had impacted a wall. All persons were out on arrival and crews carried out scene safety.

Time: 18:08  Location: Hunmanby, Filey

A crew from Scarborough responded to a fire sighted in a field. This was found to be a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given.

Time: 18:33  Location: Stokesley

A crew from Stokesley responded to smoke sighted in woodland. After a thorough investigation no smoke or fire was found.

Time: 18:52  Location: Main Street, Harome

A crew from Kirbymoorside responded to a fire alarm activation in a residential property. On arrival this was confirmed as a false alarm due to a faulty detector.

Time: 20:59  Location: Stockwell Avenue, Knaresborough

Knaresborough and Harrogate responded to reports of a washing machine smoking inside a domestic property. The occupier was outside the property on their arrival and an investigation was conducted using a thermal imaging camera. The washing machine was isolated and the cause was due to an overheated mechanism inside the washing machine drum. Advice was given to the occupant.

Scarborough responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential property. After inspection this was confirmed as a false alarm.

Time: 22:22  Location: East Barnby

Whitby responded to investigate the cause of an alarm activation inside a building with sleeping accommodation. After an investigation, this was confirmed as false alarm.

Time: 22:59   Location: Walmgate, York

York crew investigated two abandoned calls made from a young person in a phonebox reporting fire without any further detail. After inspection of the area, no fire could be located and police were informed of the malicious calls made to North Yorkshire Fire Control.

Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm within a building. After investigation, this was confirmed as a false alarm.

Time: 04:46  Location: High Green, Great Ayton

Stokesley responded to an activated fire alarm within a residential building. After investigation, this was confirmed as a false alarm, caused by a faulty smoke detector.

Time: 06:29 Location: Rosetta Way, York

Acomb responded to an activated fire alarm within a residential building. After investigation, this was confirmed as a false alarm, caused by an accidental activation of break glass call point.
