Selby fire station open day cancelled

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing hot weather and work taking place at the station, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Selby fire station’s open day this Sunday (16th August 2026).

Our crews have been exceptionally busy over the past week responding to a high number of operational incidents.

We know many people were looking forward to attending and we’re sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

In the meantime, please do your bit to help reduce the risk of fires during this prolonged spell of hot, dry weather.

If you’re heading into the countryside, take a picnic instead of using a disposable barbecue, campfire or camping stove, take your litter home with you especially glass bottles and jars and dispose of cigarettes responsibly. If you’re having a barbecue at home, make sure it’s positioned well away from sheds, fences, trees and other combustible materials. Please also avoid having garden bonfires while the ground and vegetation remain so dry.
