Incident Summary – Night Shift 9th May
Time: 20.26 Location: Cliffe Common too Lund Lane, Cliffe
A crew from Selby responded to a report of smoke sighted behind a holiday lodge park. This was found to be a fire containing household waste and hedge and grass cuttings. Crews extinguished the fire using 1 hose reel jet.
Time: 21.10 Location: Old Rugby Way, Scarborough
A crew from Scarborough responded to a request from Ambulance to assist with extrication of a patient from a first floor room into an awaiting road Ambulance. Crews used crew power to assist.
Time: 21.36 Location: Castlebergh Crag, Settle
A crew from Skipton responded to a fire sighted on top of a crag. Crews carrying knapsack sprayers and hand tools had to travel uphill and on foot from the fire appliance to locate the fire. Crews spent some time extinguishing the 3 x 5 metre fire which had spread from what appeared to had been an abandoned campfire.
Time: 22.30 Location: Beverley Road, Malton
Malton responded to reports of an unusual smell inside a residential building, thought to had been an electrical fire. However after an extensive inspection by crews, no signs of smoke or fire were located at the building and this was confirmed as a false alarm good intent.
Time: 23:31 Location: Moor Lane, Scarborough
Scarborough responded to smoke sighted from behind a property. After inspection, this was confirmed as controlled burning under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.
Time: 03:08 Location: Near Brafferton
Thirsk mobilised to a chimney fire which they extinguished with buckets of water. A thermal imaging camera was then used to confirm no further hotspots and advice was given to the occupier.
Time: 06.41 Location: School Lane, Austwick
Crews from Hornby, Barnoldswick (North West FRS) and Skipton responded to a report of a fire to a sauna in a woodland. This incident is ongoing at time of publication.
Crews from Northallerton (x2), Acomb (x2), Ripon and York also attended reports of automatic fire alarm activations. After investigation these were found to be false alarms.
