Incident Summary – 15th May 2026 – Night Shift

Time:  17:08    Location: New Lane, Sherburn in Elmet

Tadcaster assisted ambulance crews with the extrication of a casualty from inside their property to the awaiting road ambulance outside. Crews used a casualty drag sheet and crew power. The patient was transported to hospital via road with ambulance crews.

Time:  18:53    Location: Piccadilly, York

York and Acomb responded to a small fire to a used eggbox inside the lift of a public building. Crews removed the eggbox and placed it in a bucket of water to extinguish. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear residual smoke from the lift and lift shaft. Cause believed deliberate.

Time:  20:07    Location: Victoria Avenue, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a report of a seating shelter that was starting to collapse. Crews removed loose tiles and cleared away debris. The incident was reported to and handed over to the council.

Time:  20:14    Location: A64 Braham Crossroads

Both crews from Tadcaster responded to a vehicle which was on fire. The vehicle was well alight and crews extinguished and dampened down using one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus.

Time:  20:29    Location: Castle Road, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a fire sighted in the open. This was found to be a small fire consisting of wood. Crews extinguished using a knapsack sprayer.

Time: 22:39     Location: Fifth Avenue, York

York and Acomb responded to a hob fire which was out prior to fire crews arrival because the occupant had quickly extinguished the fire using a fire blanket. Crews inspected the hob with a thermal imaging camera to confirm there was no fire spread or hotspots. Advice was given to the occupants.

Time:  22:59    Location: Cornlands Road, Acomb

Acomb responded to an out of control bonfire in the rear of a property. The occupant had attempted to extinguish the fire using buckets of water and a garden hose prior to the fire services arrival. Crews used a hose reel jet to fully extinguish the fire which remained confined to the garden only.

Time: 00:03     Location: Reeth Road, Richmond

Richmond assisted ambulance crews with gaining entry to a property for welfare concerns over the occupant. Crews accessed the property via a window but no occupant was present inside. Crews secured the property and the police were informed.

Time: 05:58     Location: Woodland Ravine, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a bin on fire. Crews extinguished using a bucket of water.

Time: 06:01     Location:  Evelyn Crescent

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of an air fryer on fire in a residential property. The fire had been extinguished by a sprinkler system and was out on arrival of the crews.
