Incident Summary – Monday 25th May 2026
Time: 08:30 Location: Crichton Avenue, York
York responded to a garden fire close to a properties rear door. The fire was extinguished prior to their arrival and no action was required. Fire crews inspected the area and confirmed there was no fire damage to property or risk of fire spread before leaving the incident.
Time: 08:34 Location: Dalby Forest
Pickering responded to smoke sighted in the Dalby Forest area. Crews followed the smoke and located a campfire within in the forest. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and shovels. Advice was given to the person in attendance and the forestry commission staff on site were also made aware.
Time: 10:36 Location: North Road, Whitby
Whitby responded to a parked vehicle that had leaked fuel onto the road. Crews used drizzet pads to soak up the fluid and cordoned off the area. Incident was left with highways informed.
Time: 11:42 Location: A59, Blubberhouses
Both Harrogate crews responded to an electrical fire to the external between a HGV cab and fully laden trailer carrying sheep. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and checked for fire spread using a thermal imaging camera. No fire had spread to trailer or cab and the small fire was extinguished. All sheep were safely removed to another HGV and the incident was left with police.
Time: 12:07 Location: Church Bank, Aysgarth
Crews from Hawes and Bedale alongside the water rescue teams from Richmond and Ripon responded to a person who had fallen onto some rocks at the waterfalls in Aysgarth and was unable to move in low level water at the bottom of the waterfalls. Crews used working a height equipment to access the female via an embankment. Under medical guidance from ambulance crews, fire crews were successfully able to extricate the person from the water and onto a longboard. Ladders were then used to navigate the person safely up the embankment and into the hands of paramedics. The person was taken to hospital via road.

A crew from Harrogate assisted a driver move their van after they had crashed into a grass verge, leaving the vehicle in a dangerous position for other road users. The driver was out on arrival with no injuries and scene safety was provided by the crew prior to the arrival of police. The incident was left with the vehicle owner awaiting the arrival of recovery.

Northallerton responded to a fire within some woodland measuring 1m x 1m. Crews extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet and the cause was believed deliberate.

Selby assisted ambulance crews with the difficult extrication of a person inside their property to the awaiting road ambulance outside. Crew power used only.
Time: 14:55 Location: High Street, Northallerton
Northallerton extinguished a large plant pot which began to smolder due to a discarded cigarette. Crews extinguished using a hose reel jet.
Crews from Scarborough and Malton also responded to activated fire alarms. After inspection, these were confirmed as false alarms.
